Crown Inn

I arrived latish at night. Easy check-in. All good. Facilities fine etc. Not special but perfectly adequate. I liked the room.

It was a windy night. There was a promotional sign outside my window which banged and rattled all night. I don’t really see why hotel owners can’t do their best to guarantee a quiet night. In the end I went outside at 4am and dismantled the sign.

Exceeded expectations by a long stretch. This was one of the cheapest options for our overnight stay in Rhayader and I wasn't expecting much. Pleasantly surprised!

Would have been handy to have advance notice that check-in was across the road at a different pub, but a minor point and didn't detract from our stay.

Good location. The parking for our motorcycle. Staff let us put them in the garden which was great.

Bed was a bit uncomfortable I could feel springs. But it was fine for one night.

The town itself looks interesting. The evening meal which I had booked was fine.

There was no parking at the hotel, only Pay and Display car park somewhere or on the street until 9 am unless risking a parking fine. The hotel is situated near the crossroads in the town centre and heavy lorries started rolling past at 6 am. There was no breakfast on site - one had to take the room key to the cafe on the corner which I thought was expensive (no discount for guests). I see from the reviews that parking for bikes is available elsewhere but on this occasion I was travelling by car.
