Lion Royal Hotel, Rhayader

Excellent service, staff friendly and the hotel was very clean and the breakfasts were delicious.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Very comfortable and cosy, spotlessly clean, staff were excellent , super friendly , and made it feel like a home from home. Jane was super attentive and extremely down to earth , she went more than that extra mile to make sure I enjoyed my stay and she was exactly the same with other customers too . I had an outstanding experience staying at the Lion Royal Hotel, just wish all hotels offered you the same service, sadly it’s not the case and Jane and her stafff are one offs, can’t rate it highly enough.

There wasn’t anything to dislike

It was lovely. A little busy as they were hosting a large funeral, but the host was wonderful and couldn't do enough for us.the bed was super comfortable and couldn't hear any noise coming from the Bar.. breakfast was exceptional well cooked , lovely and hot.

The furniture on the bedroom was a little old fashioned and could do with updating . Although it's in keeping with the building as it's a grade 2 listed Building I think the bedrooms could benefit with a modern look (had to plug the kettle in on the floor to boil it...

the only thing i liked was when i was leaving the place , i cant believe this is classed as a hotel , its more like a bed and breakfast / hostel

booked on booking.com , what an absolute nightmare this place is , how it could be called a hotel is beyond me , its nothing more than a bed and breakfast above a pub , paying £140 a night you would expect a tv in the room for a start ,the room was cold the bed was awful the bathroom was tiny , the whole place was really tired and dated and extremely noisy due to the pub downstairs , i stayed in the room for no more than 20 minutes and requested to the owner politely to cancel the booking which was verbally agreed , she even recommended another hotel down the road i asked about refund and was assured that there would be no problem with this , THIS WAS A PURE LIE FROM THE OWNER as now i am back home they are refusing to honor what they said , i have been given a refund of half my money , so i basically paid £139 to stay in a grotty run down b&b that claims itself as a hotel for 20 minutes , the owner was so nice when i went to talk to her , but now when it comes to keeping her side of the deal and issuing a refund she has formed a very defensive attitude to the situation , i would not recommend this place at all to anyone , what a major disappointment

Very old large building, very well maintained and the bathroom was brilliant super comfortable beds and breakfast was excellent. Staff were Great
