I was genuinely surprised—in the best possible way. This place completely exceeded my expectations of what a youth hostel could be. The location is absolutely fantastic. I was really glad I chose to stay here, and I would definitely come back again. The facilities were very clean and well maintained, and I was able to sleep deeply and comfortably. The food was classic British cuisine, and after a long bike ride, the slightly salty and hearty meal was exactly what I needed. I was very satisfied. The staff were also friendly and welcoming, which made the stay even more enjoyable.

If I had to mention one minor point, the check-in process felt a little rushed. English is not my first language, and although the speed of the conversation itself was not a problem, a few practical details—such as where the showers were and how to use the lockers—were not explained unless I specifically asked. It gave me the impression that the staff may have been quite busy at the time. A slightly more thorough explanation during check-in would have made the experience even better.

Fantastic hostel in a beautiful building. The surroundings are amazing, and the staff is friendly, well-mannered and very professional.

Cheap

The hostel is about a 15-minute walk past the end point of the day trail. I’ve stayed in many hostels before, but here it felt like there was minimal effort to create a good guest experience. The doors were squeaky and too heavy, and there was a bad smell coming from everywhere. Overall, it wasn’t a pleasant stay.
