The property was in an excellent location of Old Town next to the leaning tower / St.Mary of the Assumption other than being above a strip club. There were not many bathrooms, just two women's toilets, but they were exceptionally clean every day. They always had soap, toilet paper and hand towels. The cleaner was a very nice woman. The showers, while tiny, always had hot water. Rijeka water is potable. The Hostel accommodated my two changes to come a day later because my flight was changed and to leave a day earlier because of when my bus left.

I was told if I was late, there was a late fee which is understandable, but that they couldn't charge my card after nine so I would have to pay all cash. I didn't get there late, but it was for a week. I don't carry that kind of cash. Nor do I feel comfortable going to an unknown atm in an unknown city that late at night. I found that odd and unsafe. The 2nd floor with no elevator felt unsafe when the front door was often left unlocked frequently. I saw roaches scuttling at night and a man hiding in the unlit hall. That was bothersome. The bed was hard. It was a wooden platform bed that had a mattress that was about two inches. Half of it was mattress and half of it was hard wood. The floor was softer. I had to take medicine for my back it hurt so much and made me feel like my grandmother even after stretching by staying in that bed.There was no desk chair. There was no sea or Mountain View. I was put in the wrong room and that was never fixed. The common area was outside my room and tiny. The food area had no kitchen. It was just a normal house living room common area with a food area that was not always clean. It was cramped and I could hear people at all hours keeping me awake from in the hostel. Over half the time I didn't get to sleep at a decent hour because of the other people in the hostel. The club at least stopped. There were no enforced quiet hours. I had to use earplugs and still could hear the vibrations through the wall of conversations happening. The keys are quaint, like a skeleton key, but the only way to lock the door is a potential fire hazard because you cannot quickly get out without fitting the key into the lock to unlock it. I didn't see any bugs, besides roaches in the stairway, but I did see the remains of killed bugs on the walls, which was pretty gross.the electric dropped at least once. The shutters didn't shut completely and flapped during some storms.
