Ambience of the hotel
2 days before arriving I was told the hotel was undergoing a refurbishment and no restaurant would be available for evening dining. This SHOULD have been advised at the time I booked the hotel stay !!

The rooms are spacious.
Large and empty lobby. There are no slippers, robes, or minibar in the room. A deposit is required upon check-in, its purpose is unclear. When booking, it is indicated that there is a parking lot, in fact, there is a public parking lot nearby, not critical. The location is 20-30 minutes to the main attractions, not the most convenient. The mattress and pillows are very uncomfortable.

The fact that they had a room!
I had to book very last minute after a cancelled flight and was given a room in the eaves - no window as such but a skylight, genuinely unsettling artwork, low humming noise all night long. Lobby is awful and not in keeping with the rest of the hotel.

I didn't know about the renovation works when booking. The corridors were quite dark.

The room was ok
It was under massive renovation with vast internal scaffolding which had closed all the usual reception and central communal areas. There was no warning of this when I booked it. I had booked a nights stay as a birthday treat for my husband and of course it was a washout. The hotel felt like a ghost town and the first receptionist wasn’t even nice to us.

The room service food was not delicious.

Very friendly staff.
Room and hotel could use maintenance / upkeep. Main entrance area and lobby was mostly closed off for maintenance. This wasn't mentioned anywhere at time of booking. Overall, I'm not sure it represents good value.

The breakfast was varied and generous, and the staff very helpful and cheerful. I understand a number of staff had been let go while the restoration was being completed, which accounted for the restaurant being largely non-functional except for breakfast and room service.
When I arrived the hotel resembled a building site and apparently will remain so for up to four more months. The Reception was reduced to a small corner on one side of the entrance, and there was no direct access to the room; two different lifts had to be used, one on either side of the building; the main entrance hall was filled with scaffolding; the restaurant was unusable except for breakfast (and possibly pre-booked external events). I had reserved a room for one person for 4 nights and paid Booking.Com over £800 in advance. I expected a great deal more than this (it certainly does not look like the photo above). Booking.Com should have arranged for better information and communication with prospective clients and reduced prices.

Beautiful building that stood out at its location. Appreciated the complimentary water and snacks on arrival.
Disappointed as I booked a premium room with a view however as it was a twin - it had to be at the back of the hotel (so I was told).

good breakfast, nice big room, good shower.
It wasn't a pleasant stay. first of all was the issue of our dog. We got checked in - all seemed very pleasant. I had emailed ahead of time explaining we had a small dog with us. They then noticed the dog and said we hadn't booked it in (we had), and that also there was going to be charge of €30. In principle, this was okay, BUT they had not mentioned a charge anywhere -and we'd be staying in hotels for the past two weeks across Spain and France with either no charge for dogs or under €10. They were deeply unpleasant about it ,claiming it was explicitly written on booking.com what the price was. It wasn't. They eventually offered it for free. Next we go to our room -junior suite - it was nice, air con wasn't very good, half -drank bottles of water were in the fridge, empty plastic bottles under the bed, so not properly cleaned, which was a real shame -especially given the price. Room Service disappointing - menu pretty limited - we ordered a ceaser salad and asked them to remove the bacon (they didn't) ,and they brought us an extra dish we didn't order, and tried to charge us too. Parking was another €20 too.

the extra cost of 30 euros for my little dog was in my view excessive and over twice as much as the numerous similar quality hotels that I use throughout France
