Loved how our hosts, brothers Anthony and Xavier, combined pride in their vocations as owners and hosts, true professionalism and the loveliest honest kindness.

We liked everything about our Hostal Gonzalo stay. It is so magically handy to everything and everywhere, and so reasonably priced.

Hostal Gonzalo is located in a safe, nice and quiet location in Madrid. It's an area where lots of locals live and lots of small local businesses are located. Still it is pretty close to main attractions. In 15-20 min you can reach to main touristic areas. Hotel owners/managers were friendly and helpful. The communication was easy. They made sure I have everything I need in the room. Hotel is in a single floor of a building with an old and very interesting elevator. It was very quiet, no noise issues. There was a common area but I didn't see anybody using that. There was no cafe or restaurant but there were plenty nearby in walking distance so not a big deal.This was a simple hotel, nothing fancy. My room was clean, spacious and warm (important for a winter visit). All basics were available. If you don't have high expectations this could be a good place to stay.

Nothing was surprising or outside my expectations. My biggest complaint was the bed. I'm not a picky person but unfortunately it was very uncomfortable. An upgrade is needed.
