Central location but room smells of smoke

I can’t even call this a hotel - it’s more like a pension. Appears clean but really run down. Smells of smoke in room although I requested for non smoking room. Very very basic not even shampoo or soap provided for the price. Water gets everywhere in the small shower. Location was excellent - very easy to get to. It’s somewhere you stay if youve arrive late and want a cheap place for the night. Probably won’t stay there again due to smell in room.

I liked the room overall and the bathroom

The floor was dirty, there was hair everywhere also on the drainage. The fridge was not working , I had some medicine that needed to stay refrigerated, instead of helping me fix the issue I was just ask to put my medicine in the communal fridge. I told them that I was not comfortable also I needed cold water they were just being dismissive like I was making a big deal out of nothing. Overall I think because I was speaking Greek they thought they could get away with not being professional, I think if I was a tourist they would have been a bit more attentive

Good for a short stay

Hotel Kastoria is good for a short stopover in Thessaloniki—close to the train station, and surrounded by lots of restaurants and shops. It’s also a short walk to the port and waterfront. Although the rooms are quite dated, everything was clean. The bathrooms are small but functional.

We could unlock the door to our room with only the tip of the key, meaning anyone could unlock our door—it didn’t feel very secure in that regard…

This hotel provides exactly what you paid for, no more and no less. Ideal for a short stay on the budget. Very good location, the airport bus stop is just a couple of meters away, as well as a metro stop. There are a lot of coffee shops, restaurants nearby, the sights are also accessible within a walking distance. The stuff was helpful, wifi was working well. The bathroom was tiny but clean. Extra points for the slippers and the beautiful interior of the hallway and the stairs.

The hotel is located in a very frequent area of the city, so prepare for noise, even with closed balcony doors (for me it was not disturbing, but maybe for you it will be). There is no elevator - again, no issue for me, but maybe it is for others.

The hotel has a perfect central location, close to everything, and the reception staff were always smiling and helpful —

Perfect location, very nice workers, they always smile and saying hi. They also helped for us to keep our luggages safe in our last day after checkout.

Noisy street and no sound proofing. Whatever they talk in the hallway we could hear inside the room. Very old room doors.

I am fully satisfied

The location is good - just few minutes from bus station. Building and room are pretty old and not renovated but I did not expected more for this price. It was clean. There is a kitchen and bathrooms/toilets outside the room

plug sockets not comfortably placed, it was hard to find a good place to charge the mobile phone. but in the end, we placed our phones somehow and it worked. Stuff is not fluent in English, but I think I'm not fluent too, that's why I had to repeat my questions few times before we get it

Great stay

Great place, so worth the price. The room we were given seemed recently refurbished and was great. The AC was working and helped a lot with the heat as the weather was extremely hot. The staff was nice and welcoming. The location worked great for us too.

Price to quality ratio - nice room with a balcony

Given the low price, I liked everything. The staff was really nice and easygoing. Some guests were English speaking low-cost backpackers just like me, and some were local, or maybe friends of the staff, nevertheless they brought life and joy to the place. The housekeepers were also very pleasant and polite, and working hard. Thew building looks very nice from the outside, and the room was very nicely decorated on the inside, and the bed was comfy.
