Charming, old hotel with a friendly host.

A beautifully-restored 14th hotel in the heart of Chinon. We really enjoyed the charming decor throughout the hotel. In particular, the breakfast room was very attractive and the breakfast has a fine selection of breads and home-made jams. twe were only passing through the area, but would have loved to stay an extra day just to enjoy the lovely rooms!

A Lovely Hotel near the town centre

Breakfast outside in the cool of the morning was lovely.

The €8 hotel car park charge is odd. I know of no other hotel these days that has a specific car parking charge. But in any event the main gates are locked for the evening /night so it's an added security feature. The owners were kind enough to put our lunch shopping for the following travel day in the fridge. Fresh milk availability would be good for late afternoon tea etc

The building was beautiful and the location was central

Rooms 24 and 25 are right above the bike parking spots. Some bikes arrived late and I felt that the conversations about batteries and water bottles were in my room

Peaceful comfortable stay in quaint hotel

Charming hotel situated in the centre of Chinon.

Nothing to dislike it has all the charm of a period property with original features and furnishings which whilst not modern add to the appeal of the hotel.

Pleasant stay in good location.

Managed to get on-site parking which was very helpful. Location was easy to find and convenient to restaurants etc. Room was comfortable and came with a fan which had a 'quiet' setting which meant it could be kept on all night and was virtually silent. Invaluable in the intense heat we experienced. Good breakfast on the terrace.

As there was no dining room they offered a light meal if ordered in advance. This consisted of a dish heated in an enclosed jar rather like a small 'Kilner' jar. I had a veal casserole with vegetables which was lovely but my wife's risotto was over-cooked and tasteless. To be fair, this was deducted from my bill and we were given a jar of the local confiture as compensation.

Beautiful hotel, amazing breakfast, very welcome reception from staff who brought us a jug of chilled water after a very hot day cycling. Great stopover location for cyclists. Room immaculate. Fantastic town.

Hotel Diderot and Chinon - definitely a place to visit and stay!

We loved the atmosphere of the hotel - it was absolutely charming. The staff were very attentive and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable; the breakfast was delicious! And the hotel was located only a short walk to the centre of Chinon. Exceptionally great value for money. We definitely recommend Hotel Diderot.

The property is charming and characterful. The decor was of a high standard. We enjoyed a lovely breakfast of local produce and home made conserves.

Our room was not spacious and the small window was above head height so we had no view. The bedding was adequate but did not include a duvet which we prefer.

A gem

This hotel is a gem. Tucked away in a quiet street with a parking area and a garden seating area. Our room was a good size with a very comfortable bed. Rooms are traditional so quite a pleasant change from nondescript chain hotels. It's a very short walk into the town centre. Breakfast was very good and served in a lovely historic room. The staff were friendly and helpful. We'd thoroughly recommend this hotel.
