Cliffs Hotel

I do like the cliffs but it needs a bit of a refurb and up dating the breakfast was good but dinner always felt like it was reheated and one time it was supposed to be beef stew and all I got was a large bit of puff pastry and two tiny pieces of stew it was terrible.

Best part of the deal was the dining arrangements, with buffet style starters and desserts, allowing free choice of which to choose and how many and quantity. This gave a much better value for money choice than the majority of similar style hotels in Blackpool. The pool area was also well presented and encouraged usage of that facility. First time staying at the Cliffs, but would not be worried about returning in the future.

I rang to confirm booking asked for a large room, was told we’d been allocated a 2nd floor room as there was only 2 rooms left and the second floor was the biggest of the two, I agreed. On arrival was told we were on 3rd floor, I queried this but was told no this is yr room, we don’t allocate rooms. When we got to the room it was extremely small and the smell was awful. The toilet was literally squashed between the bath and wall, a larger person would struggle to use it, the sink is at the end of the bath and it was difficult to get around the door, using the sink I banged my elbow several times on the door handle. I reported the smell to the receptionist only to be told “I’ll send housekeeping, she arrived with some air freshener. Hence We spent as little time as possible in the room. On a better note the food is excellent and some of the staff are very friendly particularly Lloyd in the restaurant who has a very pleasant personality and lots of patience with some elderly people who can be quite challenging. This hotel during our stay was predominantly older people who had been going there for years. On the whole although the room was said to be a double I would only consider it suitable for a comfortable single occupancy for people of small stature.
