Not worth the money!

It has very nice outdoor area and multiple swimming pools. Breakfast is nice and rooms are cleaned 2 times per day.

The rooms are extremely old. We had mold in the bathroom, the wall paper was peeling off. The shower was broken, aircon stopped working 3 times in the span of 2 days. I don’t think this is 5 star hotel.

Rooms are rather old and could be renovated. E.g., Installed hair dryers fail after 3min of use and need to cool down. The maintenance staff knows about the problem (apparently in all rooms the same), but at least they bring you a new one, if u ask them.

Wonderful elegant classic hotel.

We loved the hotel as it was very spacious and had large grounds. The view of the marina was very picturesque and charming and quite unique. The pool was uncrowded and offered a small ice box filled with bottled water for free. The room was upgraded for free and it was very large with spectacular views of the marina and the city. We booked the Club lounge which was incredible. The atmosphere is relaxed but elegant and offers non alcoholic drinks throughout the day and also 3 food presentations. The environment was delightful with individual personal service and bountiful offerings. The location was amazing and we were able to walk easily to the Corniche and also to the palace. The location is privileged as it enjoys a strategic position with a fantastic view whilst being away from the more built up areas but within walking distance of interesting sites. Taxis are so cheap in Abu Dhabi that we were able to travel easily further afield. We went for a walk to see nearby hotels, but they lacked the space of the private beach at the Intercontinental and they felt more corporate and less relaxing. We would definitely return.

A Few Bright Spots, and the Rest

I am generally a fan of InterContinental hotels for their comfort, practical room furnishing, and good value for money. This property fell well short of expectations and appears to have management issues. There is no power outlet near the bed. The instant service line produced only noise, and despite going to reception to request an extension cord and following up twice, no solution was provided during my 4-day stay. Check-out was also slow. The desk staff initially insisted that only Booking could provide a tax receipt, which is not the case. Breakfast was good, with an excellent bread selection, a solid egg station, and a decent fruit salad. The juices were sub-par and not really drinkable. The on-site restaurants were inconsistent. The Italian restaurant served an interesting slow-cooked octopus (rubbery but tasty), followed by a very poor lasagna (more like soup, with the pasta dissolved). The fish restaurant has no real menu and asks you to choose raw fish from a display for them to cook, a pricey and unusual concept. The Brazilian steakhouse offers either the full buffet or nothing, with no menu. The Belgian Café was the standout. The Belgian Pride dishes were excellent, and the Belgian beer on tap was fresh. I went three times in a row. The music and big screens were odd, but the decor felt authentic.

The Johnson bedside controller for the lights looks like it was taken straight from the 1970s. It takes up a huge amount of space, yet it does not control all bedroom lights. Overall, this is out of line with other properties in IHG’s flagship brand and feels like a haphazard retrofit, without anyone checking the user experience or benchmarking it against the rest of the brand.

Make sure to use the beach club!

Very comfy beds, really nice beach club attached which is worth a visit, 10/10 breakfast. Staff were brilliant and lovely at every interaction we had.

We weren’t informed about the beach club access and unfortunately stumbled upon it on our last evening when we didn’t have time to use it. We were a bit disappointed as it’s lovely. The decor within the hotel in general is a bit dated and could use a refresh. The pool at the hotel (which we did use!) is a bit basic and old.

Just wow! Exceptional!

Perfect location. Extremely clean. The most comfortable beds and best linen. All the restaurants at the hotel serve the most delicious food and the service is excellent. The Bayshore Beach is exclusive and has all the amenities you need from service on the beach, beach pub, restaurant and even a lovely children’s pool with slides. I would highly recommend this hotel when planning a vacation or even a business trip to Abu Dhabi. To top it off the staff are all professional, friendly and they do everything with a smile. Nothing is too much for them. Thank you Intercontinental for an amazing stay!!!

The stuff was great! The food for breakfast need improvement and also the room lighting and plugs.

the stuff was lovely from reception Nina and Ali, to breakfast stuff, poll guys and the people that made up our room every day, will make a little towel animal for our son to find. He loved it! Everyone was lovely.

Breakfast was a bit poor quality, no smoke salmon, the eggs were a bit tasteless ( omelette, boil, fried ... not great). The bread was not fresh. The food at the pool bar was not very good too .. needs improvement in taste. Portions are great. Chicken wings have too much sauce and too spicy - should be on the side. The chicken burger wasn't very good either. The Belgium restaurant was the best, they had fresh pretzels! Delicious! Also, I feel like hotel rooms need a bit of an update - for hte price. The lighting on the room is bad, and the bathroom too, I have a hard time to get ready. Also the plugs locations - not convenient .

The Italian restaurant in the hotel was closed for a private party, very disappointing because we were only here for one night. We went to eat in the Belgian Beer café. There were a lot of cats, disgusting. And at 11pm, when we wanted to watch the Champions League Final on the big screen, staff asked us to leave because our son isn't 16 yet. Ironic, because we are from Belgium. The game wasn't on tv and the WIFI was terrible so we ended up not watching the game. In the morning, the breakfast restaurant was much too busy and cold. No underground parking so it was very hot in the car when we left.

Overall good experience

The staff are very friendly and the hotel is very pleasant and clean. Breakfast is perfect. Communication on booking was strange. The room was prepared for two people although it was booked for three and the key cards didn't work at first. After bringing an extra bed, not all amenities were brought (first not at all until asked). The entrance to the sea has a lot of algae which I find unpleasant. Although the hotel staff try to fulfil all requests, I was always given fewer water bottles than requested (e.g. 3 instead of 6). The Byredo amenities are very pleasant, but the hairdryers are outdated and this chain has better ones in other locations.

Perfect view, so very tastefull dinner (indian, arabic) and breakfast (2 restaurants to choose), nice restaurants (we eat Italian, very nice staff - chef and Amanda), so nice marina part of hotel for walking,.. so nice lobby, kidness of staff on reception and in the room and very nice beach with pool and kids friendly area and so many things to do and very nice staff (Sandawath, Momen).
