BlueBay Villas Doradas Adults Only-All Inclusive

They greeted us nicely upon arrival, parking space for our car was there, the staff was nice. The food was good enough and there was more than enough of it. The room was spacious, clean, a bit outdated though, not really much attention to detail when they were painting it and putting silicone around the glass in the bathroom etc., it was just far enough from the pool (party place) that you could have peace and quietness. Good AC, big fan over the bed, the fridge was working well. Everything in the resort was near, the huge gated area (with many different resorts was well kept and very nice as well. They had some animation every day at the pool. They also had a 24h snack bar at the beach. If you're not to picky it is a nice place to spend some time, good price/performance. Also quite near Puerto Plata.

Well this really bothered me, on the second day they took us to a house located in the resort itself and wanted to sell us other room renting services in DR and all over the world, sort of all the options of the hotel chain. But not really straight forward and kind of masked as a questionary with a "friendly" guy who sort of showed us a more fancy room and explained that for a yearly fee we can also have one like that. But as I'm not the resort type of person (this was my first time) and I like to see other places, not just stay in the resort, I kindly and swiftly turned down their offer. But they were quite persistent which I did not like much. The local drinks at the bar like the mojito or pina colada (which I like a lot) were the worst I've had in DR, the bar man was not really engaged when making them (we would say: malo preko kurca). Although we did not watch much TV I must say the TV should have been replaced a long time ago. The resort beach was nothing to write home about but ok to get some sun and take a swim.

The buffet staff were friendly and the entertainment staff had great energy. The grounds and location were great. We chose this resort because it is adult only and has a swim up bar which is a plus.

Check-in was delayed by an hour and a half and the staff were very dismissive. My room had no hot water, no working hard dyer, and peeling paint on the walls. Some rooms had a blanket supplied and some did not. Several of our friends had to get room keys changed more than twice. I brought several people to the resort to celebrate my 60th birthday. I believe I received the worst room of all my friends and family. ( I saw many of their rooms) Many places recognize a special birthday. This place did a minimal job. I had a happy Birthday sign on my terrible room door and some balloons on the hard as a rock bed. The food was acceptable, except the Chinese restaurant--absolutely no flavor to most of our dishes.
