Old Leckie Farmstay

We stayed at Old Leckie for six nights with our three girls and genuinely couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. The converted barn is spotlessly clean, extremely comfortable and incredibly well equipped. The beds were lovely, with down pillows and duvets, and the kitchen had everything we needed, including condiments, dishwasher tablets and a washing machine. There were also plenty of games and books for children of different ages. Communication before arrival was quick and clear, and Alison and her family were incredibly welcoming while never being intrusive. On arrival we found fresh eggs from the farm, butter, milk from a local dairy and a fresh loaf of bread still warm on the table – such a lovely touch. The setting is beautiful: genuinely rural, peaceful and quiet, with incredible views and lots of outdoor space, yet close enough to Stirling for shops and supermarkets. It’s also a brilliant base for exploring Stirling, Falkirk, Callander and Loch Lomond. The nearby pub in Gargunnock is well worth a visit too – lovely food and very friendly. The highlight for our girls was the farm. The animals are right on your doorstep and Alison made the children feel completely welcome to visit them. She very kindly took time out from her work to give us a tour, showing us the cows and sheep and patiently answering all our questions. The girls then got to go in with the chickens, pick them up and see how the eggs are collected, sorted and boxed. They absolutely loved it and it was one of the highlights of our whole holiday. We would 100% stay again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Old Leckie, especially to families. A really special place.

Prachtige locatie

We needed a central location for a family meet up and the farm stay provided exactly what we wanted. The accomodation is in a converted barn on a working farm so our hosts were always around so gaining access was no problem. Our host provided us with a loaf of bread, butter and some eggs and milk in case we hadn't had time to shop before arriving, which was very welcome (we found the Waitrose at Gretna services limited in the basics, but that could be the time of day. There is a large Sainsburys superstore in Stirling just minutes away). The accomodation is warm, clean, comfortable and well provided with all the facilities listed on the booking site. The location is superb for visiting the central belt of Scotland, and we visited many of the local attractions. Stirling is very close as is the excellent Scottish motorway network. Nothing really. Even the bad weather on a couple of days didn't limit us, but that's not the hosts fault.

Lovely, family friendly property in a good location and with a great host. Alison was very friendly and gave good suggestions on things to do in the local area - the property was well located for visiting Blair Drummond as well as exploring Stirling and the Trussocks. The kids loved being allowed to visit the pigs and piglets, having a farm tour and playing in the field and woods. The property was clean, tidy and cosy with thoughtful extra details such as family board games, maps of the local area and walking books and picnic blankets.
