Bargain for the price I paid

Nice greeting by the young lady at the bar - who provided me with a welcome pint…made me feel very welcome…room was immaculate and hot shower…this hotel if I was to describe- is never judge a book by its cover..booking again for next month now

Ok as it was v close to where we were the next day but no sense of a working hotel.

Quirky with a very lively pub next door. Quiet in spite of that. Landlady was very helpful and she found us towels and drinks etc for the room. No one from the hotel around and the place seemed empty apart from us. They didn’t seem to be expecting us or really very bothered.

The surroundings were dirty and very untidy. Rubbish around and pub debris all over.

Great value for money

The staff were really friendly and welcoming and even offered us a complementary drink in the pub downstairs. The room was great value for money - it was generally clean and comfy with everything you need for an overnight stay. There was ample parking and our car could be seen from our room which was reassuring. Checking in and out was very easy. Great place to stay if you're just looking for somewhere clean and comfy to sleep. We didn't use the kitchenette but it was nice that there was one available to make breakfast if needed.

The location is quite a secluded pub, we were initially a bit skeptical but everything turned out fine. There's not much near by so you will need to travel to get to the city, shops and resturants. The noise from the pub could be heard from the room, it didn't bother us because we were going out for the evening and it was closed by the time we got back though. There were also some aspects that could have been a little cleaner but nothing that raised major concerns. The signal on the TV made it difficult to watch.

Umm? Don't have too much to say here. Needs an injection of some funds for new beds/bedding and better customer comfort. Free parking was in carpark and convenient .. tick! Was a warm room unit in a cold place .. tick!

Newcastle v Spurs that night at St James Park. Other occupants were looking at the match which is quite OK but it ended up 2-2 and lots of football fan noise till late. All understandable but doors need some maintenance adjustment and seals. Upgrade the locks and external to room in corridors lighting as well please. Fumbling for and operating old style keys in potentially the dark in an emergency is just not acceptable. Usual issues with the standard of shower. Size of shower cubicle, ease of shower taps use for foreigners too complicated when it doesn't have to be, plumbing fixtures and hot water delivery are the main issues. Room unit needs a re-think/replan, I encourage it. Kitchen was next door for making a cuppa with boiling water while the tea and coffee basic in the room. Just about all places have it all together.

I didn't know until arrival that the hotel is actually a pub with rooms upstairs that you stay in, upon arrival a member of staff said "I hope you have ear plugs, it's someone's 30th birthday party tonight" I got back to my room at 2230 and there was very little music playing, at around 11pn the music was turned up to maximum volume causing my room to shake and my radiator to make a rattling noise to the beat of the songs, this lasted for 90 mins and left me with a headache. The walls were thin so even after the music ended I was forced to listen to drunken ramblings and banging up until 2am. I will never return to such an appalling "hotel"

Comfortable hotel, lovely owners

The hotel was lovely, clean, and well-furnished. The owners were kind and very accommodating, and explained everything relevant to my stay to me when I arrived. There was some noise from the pub (expected) but this was reduced to a respectable level and stopped before 12. Overall, I would stay there again.

Not a massive issue - but in my hotel room on the floor under the small bedside tables, there were a few small chips from someone's dinner left behind. They seem hard to hoover under so perhaps easily missed (I only noticed them since I dropped something under the dresser). Also, there was something squished onto the bedding, perhaps food again. I didn't find this awful, but something perhaps to be checked more thoroughly in the future. Everything else was fine!

Excellent value good pub and food, parking and decent pub 3 minutes walk. All you need Tesco and other shops on your doorstep.

Great place, great people and lovely quaint, clean and well presented room

What a fantastic place! I booked last minute on a Thursday and when I turned up I was greeted with a jolly little pub. They showed me my room where I enjoyed a nice hot shower and it was super clean and I could hear the great atmosphere below. I went down and was offered a complimentary pint by the barman and I got chatting with this lovely bloke for ages and he turned out to be the owner. He was so nice and friendly and made me feel very welcome. :) B. Reckless

Utterly disappointed

There was a man who banged on our door at 2a.m. shouting that we turned the fan in the bathroom off and forced his way in, even though the fan seemed silent. The room was cold, there was no hot water available, the kitchen utensils were old and/or rusted, so we couldn't make ourselves a tea. Also, when we came back from town, the cleaning lady was smoking just outside our room and the smell was persistent throughout the night. There is an overall lack of professionalism.

Great accommodation, location not so good

Lovely spacious room. Lovely decor. Nice to have use of a communal kitchen.

Location. Unfortunately the property is situated between two vacant lots in an industrial area. The drive up had a dumping ground for old mattresses on one side and a burnt out car on the other. Pub bellow had a speaker outside above the door but music and karaoke stopped around 1130pm

cosy and lovely stay

We loved our stay at the Crocket Hotel. The staff were extremely friendly, and we received a welcome drink at the pub downstairs. The atmosphere was just lovely. Our room was clean and cosy, and it smelled really nice. There was a kitchen we could use, and tea and coffee were provided. What I loved about this stay — besides the room — was the authentic British style. The pub was full of nice and friendly people. If I come to Newcastle again, I would definitely stay at the Crocket Hotel. Thank you!

A bit outside of town but friendly and good value

The hosts were really friendly and helpful. I was able to leave my car and take the bus into town easily. Great shower.

There is a pub below the accommodation so that is good to know. The patrons all seemed great but one guy, out smoking one night, kept leaving loud messages with a friend.

Rooms ok and there is an old kitchen for guests to make coffee or whatever. Downstairs is a nice pub. Victorian although not in mint condition. I had no complaints.
