    The price for the room was the lowest in the area, considering I booked on a Friday evening for a one night stop on the following (Saturday) night! The room was a rear bedroom overlooking a fire-escape and the hotel car park- That was OK- I wasn't there for the views! I do admit the room was absolutely spotless- not a speck of dust anywhere! The furniture was less than standard- with a drawer missing from the dressing table. Again, OK - I was there only one night. Good shower with gel and hand-wash liquid at the washbasin. One big surprise was a 10% discount on drinks, 15% on food, and free coffee with numerous options, and free continental breakfast! Oh, wow! A full English Breakfast (at about half the price at other hotels in Newcastle area) WAS available IF I waited until the chef turned up (I heard) around 10am. This is the MAJOR downfall here. I would have loved the full English, but I had to leave the hotel by about 9 am.

    Although decor is a little tired, we received a warm friendly welcome, comfortable bed and allowed us to explore the region whilst on a tight budget.
