Ahornhütte Gastein

This is quite a unique place to stay. Located at the middle station of the Stubnerkogel. It is the perfect starting point for many ski/walking trips and the perfect location to be the first on the slope! The apartment is located above the Ahornhütte and recently renovated. We were the first guests from Booking.com after the renovation. The location and views are stunning and the area is so quiet at night with amazing views of the mountains. At first we were afraid that we would hear the guests and the music. That wasn't the case at all. Unless you have a window open at noon we didn't even notice that we were located above the restaurant. Only lunch is served and some drinks, the slopes are closed after 5 and so is the hut. Most likely you are away during most of the opening hours. Do notice that you have to plan your groceries with the opening times of the Stubnerkogel lift. Which in December stops at 15:30. After that you will be in a sort of lock-down on the mountain (at least during winter), a good way to relax. In winter you can have a close look at the preparation of the slopes. The rooms were spacious and clean. Important to notice is that there is a shared hallway with some of the employees the restaurant. They have separate rooms at the same floor. We only saw them once or twice though and never heard them. The living room is renovated in a classic mountain style. The kitchen is spacious and has sufficient equipment for large groups. The hosts (Nathalie and her family) are super kind and very responsive. They will pick up your luggage and bring it back to the Stubnerkogel.

Die Ahornhütte liegt extrem schön nahe der Mittelstation und man ist somit direkt am Berg. Die Lage eignet sich perfekt zum wandern und Radfahren, da man direkt von der Hütte sehr schöne Touren gehen kann. Auch die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern war super und die Hütte ist top ausgestattet.

Bettwäsche und Handtücher kosten pro Person 15€ extra was für uns nicht auf den ersten Blick ersichtlich war
