Casa Altamar was the perfect gateway - wished we had booked more nights. Off the beaten path and with great access to many nearby cenotes and a beautiful little beach. It is away from the hustle of the central hotel district in Tulum, which was great. This is a boutique hotel with a wonderful and caring staff. We had two patio rooms which gave us easy access to the pool and beach. Rooms are spacious clean and well done. We felt very safe there too. Lovely beach and dock, free access to snorkeling gear, kayaks and paddle boards, beautiful water to snorkel and swim in, fresh water pool was perfect for cooling off. Restaurant was excellent. Complements to chef Eddie. Continental breakfast is included; we had both lunch and dinner a both were excellent and at a good value. Pool/beach service is available for lunch.

Like many places in the area, once you get off the main road, the access road is a bit rough…be prepared. Hardly a reason to miss this gem, but something to be aware of. We loved our patio rooms, but I am a light sleeper and the furniture being rearranged for breakfast in the cafe above woke us around 7:00-7:30. Again not sure I would give up the patio room, but if we were staying longer I would have mentioned something to the staff and I am sure they would have tried to accommodate us.
