Palace Museum & National Monument - Espaço Palmeiras

really nice well kept suite of rooms. location is fantastic- lots of cool chic restaurants and bars in the immediate area (a lot of Porto is tourist trap, this was more authentic), but no sound disruption. easy access to bus and metro. Maria’s kindness and hospitality reminded me of a high end Japanese hotel experience!

Optimal location in the heat of Porto and walk to many key historical sites. The family greeting guests is so charming and welcoming . They featured a wine tasting among other perks. Stunningly preserved hotel with murals from the late 1800’s! Impeccably kept and felt like a walk back in time.

There was nothing I didn’t like.

Maria, the owner and her assistant are very kind and welcoming.

The owners of the property were very nice and tried to be helpful. They helped us find parking and we were grateful for that. It is a shame that their property is not as good as it could be.

The house smelled like mothballs and air freshener. There was a rooster that lived somewhere in the yard (it could have been a neighbor’s yard, but it was right outside) that started making noise at 4am and we were not provided with a remote for the a/c to turn the fan on to try to drown out the noise. They probably would have given us one if we had asked, but the worst noise was the last night so there was no point. However a remote for the a/c definitely should have been in the room.- we searched everywhere and I ended up sleeping on the floor in the bathroom because it was so loud in the bedroom. Also, the front door and the door to our room were hard to open, the handle on the sink was broken, the windows were not in great shape and hard to open or close, and honestly, the house felt more like a haunted house than a “palace museum”
