Apartment Granit-5 by Interhome

Location was perfect, close to the train station, amazing view of Matterhorn, check in was fairly easy

The cutlery were not very clean, we understand it was public holiday but the office was not very responsive to messages as we ran out of toilet paper and asked for replacement we had no answer. We had to take the trash out at the end but instructions were not clear where we had to put it, was walking around town with a trash bag

This is a lovely apartment in a fantastic location, close to the railway station and the lift stations. It has an amazing view and a balcony to enjoy. We loved staying here and was perfect for a family of 4. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. The main bedroom was very spacious with lots of cupboard and drawer space for all the ski gear. The ski and boot storage in the basement was very practical and easy to access. Overall a wonderful apartment to enjoy a ski holiday in Zermatt.

The duvet on the main bed was a bit small - could be a bigger size for 2 adults sharing or maybe 2 single duvets would be better.

Location is very convenient. Just 1-2 minutes walk to the train station and city center. The view from this unit is a 10/10!! Amazing Matterhorn view!

The entire until is quite old and worn. Many things in need of replacing and updating. The property is managed by Interhome which closes their office every day from 11:00-15:00. So early checkin is completely impossible, even if your unit is ready. Then, they open their doors at 15:00 there is a line of about 10 people (frustrated and waiting out in the cold) wanting to all check in at the same time. They claim their actual checkin time is 16:00-18:00 (so allowing you to get the keys at 15:00 they view as favor or convenience) , but by that time Zermatt is already getting dark. So if you arrive with children and large bags (as I did) at Noon, then plan on NOT getting your room until very late. The entire first day you pay for is nearly over by the time you get the room. Then, check out time is 10:00am. Again, an abnormally early check out time compared to a hotel stay. All properties managed by Interhome will be the same procedure, so renter beware. I will be hesitant to rent another room managed by Interhome due to their policies and procedures.

Price is relatively low. Took a gamble as this apartment is a lot cheaper than others and certainly is the cheapest among other accommodations that we have booked in other cities for our entire 15-day vacation. I would say it is a pleasant stay if you manage your own expectation. Excellent location. It's 5-min walk from Zermatt main station and there is a Denner supermarket nearby. If you prefer Coop of Migros, they are 8-min away. View is excellent. You can see Matterhorn right out of your window on a clear day. Old and small but full of characters - it offers a different experience as compared to other more modern apartments that we have booked in other cities.

You pay for what you get. As I mentioned before, you need to manage your expectation according to the price you pay. Comparing to other more luxurious accommodation that we have had in other cities, this one is old and really basic. Appliances are old but generally working fine. Would have been better if there was a washing machine/dryer. Minor issues such as broken bulbs which we didn't bother much but certainly unexpected. Pillows are bad. They are just some small cushions. Collection/return of keys is at a different location. It's a bit of a hassle but not a deal-breaker once you have planned your time properly.
