The Scott at Claremont Serviced Apartments

very quiet, clean and comfortable with a homely feel and character, unlike so many apartments. Probably because it used to be a (Victorian) home. Pleasantly situated within walking distance of the city centre, although a bus service is nearby. Heating and TV easy to operate, again unlike so many apartments. Appliances mostly worked very well.

Thicker (blackout) curtains needed to keep out the early morning light. Hot water from the kitchen tap is a poor flow. Be careful with the shower control-water temperature fluctuates greatly with only a miniscule change to knob. Kitchen just needed a washing up sponge or brush.

We have stayed before, a grand building which is very well placed for central Leeds. The rooms are large, the Scott is smaller than the Heaton where we stayed before but still very spacious. Kitchen area well equipped and all works.

We searched on Booking.com for properties with parking and did not realise until the pre-arrival email that Scott (and Smeeton) did not have dedicated spaces. This was not a problem over a weekend when parking restrictions on street are lifted but would have been during the working week. Things are looking a bit tired and some maintenance is required. The grand entrance hall now has stuff stacked behind the piano and managers desk which doesn't give a good impression. In the room the sofas have rips in the covers, the curtains have fallen off many of their hooks so do not close (and are 10 feet up in the air so you cant do anything yourself), there is peeling paint on the windowsills and the hook on the back of the bathroom door has been pulled off and not replaced or the defect repaired fully. Nothing major but enough to notice.

Beautiful architecture in the building.lovely staff so helpful and kind. Near centre of city easy to walk to . Enjoyed city centre Victoria arcade and harvey nicks. Easy to get a bus to Otley and the dales

Bathroom not having a window

Had everything we needed for a weekend visit. Location was good. Beautiful old building.

- The place was quite worn down and showed many signs of wear and small damages. Definitely not as nice as the pictures make it seem and in urgent need of renovation - Bathroom was smelly - Room was cold and the heating didn't work properly - There was some kind of ventilation running the whole time which was really loud (not the regular bathroom fan, that one could be switched off) - The bed was saggy and uncomfortable - There was free tea but the included milk packets were long expired
