Perfect cosy cottage

Perfect cosy nature cottage. Very "homey" and comfortable. Beautiful location, 15 min car ride away from Rovaniemi. Great for kids too, my 5 year old was happy to find some toys in the house and some sleds outside as well. Kitchen was well-stocked for cooking. Fyi - no TV in the living room. We liked that, but some people might not.

Villa Aurela is the perfect place to stay in Lapland. The house is big and specious. We are a couple with 3 teenagers and it was very comfortable. The kitchen has all the essentials. The sauna is perfect! And the view is Devine! I felt like we are in Narnia. Altti the owner was very nice and informative.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and had a memorable experience @ Villa Aurella. It's a perfect vacation home with all the necessities taken care of very well and the location is just amazing too. Altti is super host, very understanding and always available happily to answer silly or logical all types of queries. Right after I booked before the checkin also he was so easy to approach and he always offered detailed help which made us so comfortable to reach your place. Would love to visit this beautiful country once again sometime and definitely Villa Aurela is locked as our first choice for us and a must recommend to our friends too.

Family of 6 in Aurela for 4 nights

Do you know the feeling when you see promotional photos and you have certain expectations and then the reality doesnt quite meet those expectations? Well this was exactly the opposite! We loved the location at the lake, the house itself was just lovely, we spent 4 nights and we did feel like at home. This will be one of our best vacations and it has a lot to do with the Vila Aurela and the excellent host. Thanks to his many tips we enjoyed every day to the best potential, he helped us find suitable activities for kids and gave some personal tips as well. He was always available when we needed anything.

We are not super rich so vacations in Finland was a big enterprise for us. It is not a cheap country, thats clear. I was considering many options where to stay, we wanted to get a chance to see the northern lights so we wanted to be far from the city. Thats why we finally decided to go for Vila Aurela, eventhough it was a bit pricey for us. I will never regret this decision and I am saying that after spending 4 nights without the chance to see the lights at all (due to the weather conditions). We went out to the lake every evening, saw the stars at night, sunrise in the morning.. Just looking out of the kitchen window every morning was magical. It would have been a very different experience had we stayed in the city. No, thanks. As for the house itself - I cannot complain about anything, it would be unfair. If we ever decide to go back to Finland, no question about returning to Aurela!

Purely magical, cozy and perfect.

Villa was clean, warm and cozy with everything we needed. we had all the information given by the host before arrival which made our arrival very seamless and easy. Picture perfect area by the lake and surrounded by forest. We really enjoyed how secluded the place felt but we were still so close to Rovaniemi, the airport, Santa Clause Village and supermarkets.

a wonderful getaway to be alone and enjoy nature and the northern lights

the perfect location to see the northern lights. the walk from the delightful cabin to the lake was less than a minute and we enjoyed the complete darkness to witness some wonderful lights. the home was renovated nicely and the owners were very accommodating. thank you for a great experience.

the only MINOR issue was the wood provided was a bit wet and too,large for the narrow fireplace. very small issue however. drier wood in smaller logs would have made making a fire much easier.

An amazing stay in a fairytale cabin

The Villa is amazing. It’s lovely and cosy with plenty of room for the 4 of us to stay. Inside is nice and warm but also you can get the log burner going for a toasty feeling with cut logs ready for you. The indoor Sauna is a great touch for warming the bones after daytime activities in the snow. The full kitchen allows you to spend some evenings enjoying the cabin with home cooked food. Set in the woods by the lake, the location is stunning and the views truly beautiful especially at sunrise. We didn’t see the northern lights but I could imagine this would be a wonderful place to experience them, wrapped up on the balcony with a hot mulled wine! The drive into Rovaniemi is about 20mins, the roads although snowy are well kept and with winter tyres the drive was a breeze (so the driver said) but also very picturesque. Keep your eye out for grazing reindeer on the way into town adding to the experience. The owner was fab, great communication from the start and happy to assist you with tips during your stay. We will definitely return to this winter wonderland and I can’t recommend this Villa enough.

A gem in the high north!

What a house! What a view! What a host! We simply loved everything about this place: away from the hustle and bustle of the city but still only 15' away from Rovaniemi center and Santa Claus village, astonishing view over the lake and front row seats to see the aurora!

Perfect location at the (frozen) lake, house ideal for 3 couples including equipped kitchen, towels, sheets, ... about 20 min drive for Rovaniemi center & resorts for ski/snowmobile/reindeers/... owner even arranged a BBQ-grill for us on the terrace! perfect communication with the owner, nice guy!

beds could have been a little bigger & softer, but that really is just a minor thing!

Amazing stay

Winter wonderland

I love this property, this is not our first time there and we are planning on going there regularly. The house offers everything anyone could ask for - and more. Location is excellent, very secluded in a forest, on a lakeside. About 15 minutes to Santa Claus Village, as well as to Rovaniemi centre.

We loved everything, I could not say a single negative thing about the place.
