Lovely cottage in a beautiful location

The property was tired ( was the end of the season) not very clean ( dusty and cobwebs everywhere) very drafty so hard to warm through. There is no washing machine or tumble dryer as advertised. Brown mould spots on the curtains. It has lots of potential and a bit of tlc would make this cottage great.

Homely, cosy property in a rural setting.

Beautiful barn conversion in an old farm courtyard, (more properties at this location). Tastefully decorated, clean and everything worked as it should . Efficient heating , meant it was a cosy place to stay. Situated on the edge of the N Yorks moors, handy for Whitby and Scarborough. Picturesque Thornton le Dale next village, with Pickering 10 minutes further. One of those places we could easily go back to.

A relaxing weekend stay after a frustrating arrival.

After a frustrating arrival, The Sinnington was very cosy and ideally located for Thornton Le-Dale and the Dalby forest. The cottage is open plan with a balcony style upper floor. The area was fairly peaceful with access to many pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, and cake shops.

We arrived through open gates and realised we had no idea which cottage I'd actually booked. (There were no details provided on Booking.com.) There seemed to be no one to check us in, so a quick call to Martyn soon resolved the issue. However, we were ignored by what seemed to be two people chatting and unloading timber. After talking to Martyn, one of the two people acknowledged we were actually there, we believe the owner's son. Once in the cottage, we found mouldy crumpets and out of date toasted tea cakes in the bread bin. After a frustrating arrival, we decided to walk into Thornton Le-Dale when we were challenged by someone from inside the main house, through a window, asking if we were actually staying at the cottage and had we checked in. The final straw was only one breakfast bowl, side plate, and juice glass in the cupboard when the Sinnington cottage is for two guests. Martyn rapidly provided the missing bowl and glass after a quick message. The shower temperature cannot be adjusted without being freezing cold or scalding hot. The door to the property is tricky to lock and unlock. The fridge door doesn't always close properly. There were no cleaning products apart from a near empty bottle of washing liquid or complimentary biscuits or chocolates as advertised. The hand soap in the bathroom was empty. Attention to detail and cleanliness could really improve the guest experience.

Clean, comfortable and in a perfect location for visiting the coast, Thornton le Dale and Dolby Forest.

Great location with secure parking. Everything you need is covered in the cottage.

No where to sit and relax. Bench seat outside the cottage and the Garden area has a pub style bench but you can’t really relax either.

It was easy to find, well maintained, clean and ideally located for our Needs.

It wasn’t a problem for us but it would be better if it had explained in the description that the parking is a few meters ( uphill) from the property . Anyone with joint issues etc would struggle.

Perfectly located for walks and waterfalls.

We were met at the property by the owners who were very friendly and informative.They were able to recommend good places to eat and walks in the local area. They checked we had everything we needed and brought spare coffee incase we ran out. The location was perfect for walks and waterfall dipping,surrounded by beautiful countryside. Plenty of secure off road parking and gardens to enjoy. The property was well equipped for our two night stay.

The cottage was wonderful and absolutely perfect in terms of its accommodation and location. Very nicely presented and everything that I had hoped it would be for a lovely holiday. The owner was excellent and extremely helpful at all times. Overall superb.

I wish I had done my homework better and noticed that it was dog friendly and then I would not have booked this particul

Level access to accommodation as I have trouble with stairs due to arthritis in both knees.

The height of the shower was impossible for me to access the shower, so I sat on the shower stool and leaned back while my husband washed my hair. Dog smell when entered the lounge, I think this was due to the blankets on the chairs, also one side of the bed smelt like a dog had urinated on the carpet

Lovely cottage and location, but check your individual access needs in advance

The location, property and owners were all great

We needed a fully wheelchair accessible property but unfortunately my partner was unable to use the shower due to a high step into it, and struggled to use the loo independently. A few sturdy grab rails would have made all the difference. I should have checked beforehand instead of just assuming that ‘accessible’ in the description covered our needs though

Being really picky, couple of little things, could have done with a bread knife for our locally baked crusty loaf and faster internet if thats even possible geographically. None of which spoiled our stay.

Enjoyable and a beautiful setting for a long weekend away.

The property was spacious, comfortable and the location was superb. It was an appreciated to be greeted with items such as milk/snacks/drinks. Additionally, it was nice to meet the host when we moved in and their knowledge was greatly appreciated.

Personal preference, the bed and pillows were very soft which became uncomfortable (but we appreciate this is a personal preference). Cobwebs in the upstairs were noticeable around the beams and ceiling, which as a couple we were not too bothered re. this, but potentially others might be.

the area made up for what the accommodation lacked, we nearly came home on 1st impression.

The owner was very friendly and the access to the woods was good.

The accommodation was very poor quality for the money, it is tired looking and felt drab, the lack of windows ( there was only one downstairs and one up) made it very depressing to be in the building and we were very misled by the description on Booking.com that there was a garden, the only garden was a communal one that wasn't secure for dogs and was attached to another property at the end of the row. The owner was helpful and friendly but the whole place felt unloved and we would not book again.
