Little gem . . Room with a view

Family run business. Friendly and helpful staff. Great location with bar overlooking the fabulous beach. Many shops, bars and restaurants within walking distance but you won't need them. My bungalow had sea view, a hammock and ac. The owners are establishing a venue for moon parties every month which seem very popular.

Maybe just the distance to the beach

The hut was filthy. Stains on the bedsheets, dust everywhere. Water pressure in the shower non existing. I was scratching both nights i stayed. People constantly walking by during the night as there was a footpath from beach/bar/restaurant/hostel part. I only stayed because everything else was booked out, no surprise they had a vacancy.

Interesting experience

I really wanted to like this place, it is nice and relaxing and a good location right on the beach and close to the main road.

I found a dead mouse in my room and they were accusatory to me of eating in the room when it was already there (and dead) when I arrived, which shows they didn't check - there's also a lot of bugs which I didn't mind but just a note as I also had a cockroach roaming around the room

Waking up beside the sea, starting the day with a dip in the ocean, then yoga, followed by a massage, bliss!!

Cool location and nice bungalows but not social and owner isn’t friendly

Nice location and cool vibe. Being in a bungalow is fun, low water pressure and no aircon but this is expected in bungalow so not problem. However, the guests were a bit different. One man with scrapes and scratches always sat watching on his porch was drinking from morning till night was a bit uncomfortable. Also a slightly odd exclusive hippy vibe, very few people happy to chat…most folk staying here sat away from the social area but this is no real problem it just isn’t so social. Owner is an English lady who wasn’t friendly despite several attempts to find out about the island, seemed to resent having travellers. Also she got into a weird mood getting annoyed at us whilst complaining about how ‘useless’ her staff was. We thought the staff were okay, not so sure about her.

Great, I will be returning.

The room was nice, nothing fancy but it was well kept and clean. Great little balcony with a hammock. The community spirit was lovely and the location is fantastic, right on the beach. There’s beach bar with a lovely seating area and you can make dreamcatchers. I will definitely be back.

I would definitely stay at Sanctuary Lanta again!

We stayed in a beautiful bungalow just 50 feet from the beach. The grounds were kept meticulously clean and had beautiful trees and flowers! The restaurant served delicious food and drinks! We especially liked the breakfast burritos with homemade naan and chai! The family was very friendly and helpful. They also have a bar on the beach! There are massages available right there. This is a hidden gem at the end of the long stretch of beach!

So It's not exactly staff fault, but be advised: 1. Bamboo bungalow has exactly zero sound protection so if your neighbours decide to have a loud discussion at midnight - you will be listening to them 2. And all day you will be listening to the music from all three beach bars in hearing range 3. Also aircon is incredibly noisy, as outside module is installed directly on the wall 4. In my bungalow shower pressure was non existent (but fauset pressure somehow was okay) 5. Staff smoke (fully legal in Thailand) weed on premises, if you prefer to avoid narcotics better keep out 6. Smoking IS NOT prohibited in bungalows so they heavily stink of tobacco smoke. So if you are smoker and don't mind music I think it's a good place But otherwise - DO NOT GO THERE

Back to basics, but if you know what to expect, it's great.

- Location very close to the beach, quite some rocks at low tide in the water and on the left side and a river separates from the beach at high tide. Great to hear the waves from every bungalow and see them in the common area. - Very calm in the low season, we basically had the long becah to ourselves almost. - Quite some wildlife (interesting bugs, fruit bats, singing birds, one monkey, dogs/cats, crabs going for the dog food, small snake, toads). - Hosting family is really sweet once you get to know them a bit. - Hammock on bungalow porch. - Kayaks free to use. - 7-11 at the front door, easy access to the main road for restaurants/laundry.

- We weren't informed that the bar was closed in the low season and no yoga lessons either. A bit disappointing as we were looking forward to that. - We didn't get an official greeting/arrival really or any information directly when we arrived so we asked. We also didn't have a hammock but we also just asked and it was no problem to get it (even though it broke at some point hurting the back). - Wifi works occasionally. - A looooot of mosquitoes due to moonsoon. - Only cold water in the bathroom hahaha (good to know).

Huone oli kulunut, mutta puhdas ja ötököistä vapaa. Todella autenttinen tunnelma ja kaikki toimi erinomaisesti. Huoneen varustelu todella hyvä, vaikka ulkonäkö saattaa hämätä. Sänky oli erittäin hyvä. Sijainti oli todella hyvä, ruoka ja ostospaikkoja oli valittavaksi asti, ja nähtävyydet eivät olleet kaukana. Huone aivan rannalla, suoraan ovesta hiekalle ja mereen.

Äänieristystä ei käytännössä ole, ja luonto ja viereinen baari kuuluivat suoraan läpi. Meteliä on päivin ja öin. Huonettamme ei siivottu kertaakaan viikon aikana, mutta emme toisaalta myöskään pyytäneet sitä.

Une pépite.... Gâchée.

Je ne sais pas quoi dire. Il y a là une pépite au niveau emplacement. Mais ça reste dans son jus et faute d'entretien ça va finir par perdre son potentiel.

C'est le seul endroit (13 hébergements pendant notre voyage d'un peu plus d'un mois en Thaïlande) où nous n'avons pas eu de bouteilles d'eau et de produits de toilette (gel douche et shampoing). Le staff s'est contenté de nous remettre un verrou avec clé à notre arrivée (serrure du bungalow cassée). Pas d'explication sur le fonctionnement du site ou sur les horaires du restaurant. D'ailleurs celui-ci est resté vide de clients pendant notre séjour, alors que tous ceux alentours étaient pleins. Tout ça est vraiment triste car je répète que le site est une pépite. Aucun esprit hôtelier. Nous avons eu exactement le même bungalow sur une autre île, dans le même esprit de communauté, zénitude, coolitude. Pas de frigo également dans le bungalow. Mais un grand frigo commun dans une cuisine extérieure commune, avec un espace dédié à chaque bungalow. Pas de bouteille d'eau à disposition, mais on nous a confié chacun une gourde qu'on pouvait remplir à volonté avec une bonbonne géante placée dans la cuisine. Même concept de salle de bains extérieure, mais du vrai carrelage au sol et des murs en béton ciré. Ménage tous les matins. Cours de yoga gratuit chaque matin. Sourire, convivialité et chaleur humaine. Comme quoi c'est possible (pour à peu près le même prix) .... De toutes nos étapes, le Sanctuary Lanta est celle qui nous a le plus déçus et que nous ne recommanderons pas. Vraiment dommage. C'est du gâchis par rapport au potentiel. Un de nos amis était au resort juste à côté au même moment que nous, pour 7 euros de plus par nuit. On a regretté.
