Villa Usce

The location is excellent for a kitesurfing vacation, very close to the kite spot, around 3–5 minutes by car or about 25 minutes on foot, which makes it easy to return to the house, relax by the pool and avoid waiting for wind on the beach all day. The pool was excellent: large, clean, well maintained, nicely lit in the evening, and perfect for recovery after kitesurfing sessions. The outdoor area around the pool is one of the best parts of the property, with plenty of space to eat breakfast in the shade, relax on loungers, enjoy the barbecue area, and spend time as a group (although two sunshades were not working/opening properly). The host also recently installed two electrically controlled shade/pergola-style covers in front of the house, which are very useful, and the outdoor lighting has multiple available options to creates a nice atmosphere in the evening. The indoor living area is superb, especially the central living/dining room, which is extremely roomy and has a large couch, large TV, large dining table and a powerful 7.5 kW air-conditioning unit, making it very comfortable even for a larger mixed group of kiters and non-kiters. Almost every room has its own air-conditioning unit, which is a must in summer, and overall they worked very well. There are also two large fridges, which is a big plus for a group, and there was some ice already available in them. The beds were generally ok, but one slatted bedbased was a bit problematic. The house is very spacious and easily accommodates six or more people without running out of surface area, and the top couple’s bedroom is the nicest and most updated room. The area in front of the house is also nice for sitting, playing guitar and grilling. The entry/parking area is ok, with space for 2–3 cars with some manoeuvring.

The house has great potential, but it needs better cleaning and more finishing touches to fully feel like a villa. The overall impression, especially after we removed two scorpions from one bedroom and then checked the room more thoroughly, was that the property should be cleaned and inspected more carefully before guests arrive. While not everything is under the host’s control, the window frames, mosquito nets, areas under the beds/furniture, ledges, corners, kitchen surfaces and bathrooms should all be cleaned much better. The bathrooms especially need updating: they look dated, one toilet seat and tank were broken and falling apart, there was no net on the bathroom window, and many of the shelves are inclined so things easily fall down. The kitchen is OK but could also be a bit updated or cleaned better, and some trash bins inside could be bigger and cleaner, although the large outside bin was great. Some AC units had a burning smell, but it went away with time and their overall setup worked well. There were also some rough details around the house, such as wall holes, wires, older switches and sockets, and some older furniture in the two lower rooms. However, the styling of the central living room is impressive (antique naval impression). We brought our own charcoal for the grill, and there was no mention or availability of bikes for rent or a boat, as mentioned in some older reviews. There are lot of mosquitoes in the evening, given a natural park area, but guests should definitely bring repellent and be prepared to move indoors later at night. The host was friendly and the pool was very well maintained, but he was present around the property more often than we would normally expect during a private stay, coming every morning to check the pool and also checking on us before the last day.

Wir hatten einen richtig schönen Urlaub in diesem tollen Ferienhaus mit Pool! Die Küche ist super ausgestattet – ideal, wenn man auch mal selbst kochen möchte. Ein schöner Sandstrand ist in nur 5 Minuten mit dem Auto erreichbar, und die Lage ist perfekt: genau zwischen Dubrovnik und Split. In der Nähe gibt es viele Strandbars mit leckerem Essen und Drinks. Besonders klasse fanden wir die netten Gastgeber, die uns immer unsere Ruhe gelassen, aber zwischendurch auch mal frisches, regionales Obst vorbeigebracht haben. Das war echt herzlich und hat den Urlaub noch schöner gemacht. Wir können das Ferienhaus absolut empfehlen und würden jederzeit wiederkommen.

Fantastischer Ort am Neretva Delta! Schönes, gemütliches Haus mit grossem Grundstück zur Alleinnutzung und einem richtig grossen Pool, wo man seine Bahnen schwimmen kann. Das Meer ist auch nur einen Katzensprung entfernt und die Neretva fliesst unmittelbar neben dem Haus vorbei. Eine willkommene Abkühlung im Süsswasser für unsere beiden Hunde, welche auch sehr willkommen waren. Die Gastgeber Joško und Katarina sind so herzlich und begrüssten uns mit Willkommensgetränken und einer grossen Schinken - Käseplatte. Fast täglich schauten sie auch nach der Sauberkeit vom Pool. Vielen Dank für die Gastfreundschaft und den unvergesslichen, schönen Aufenthalt!

Defekte und in die Jahre gekommene Gegenstände könnten ersetzt werden.
