Gite Le Refuge des Ecureuils

Cathy and Philipe are fantastic hosts. From first arriving to the day of our departure they added little extras throughout our stay. From little crocheted figures for the kids to wine, fresh eggs and courgettes from the garden for the grown ups the little details were all super appreciated. They never imposed but were close enough if we needed anything and we shared a lovely eveing talking about the region and the gite with them via Google translate! The gite and pool are impeccably clean. The kitchen has absolutely everything you could possibly need. There were enough sunbeds for all six of our guests and 3 large parasols. The photos of the gite on the website don't do it justice. Although it is quite sparsely decorated it was perfect for our family with two young boys. The weather was so hot whilst we were there that we rarely got further than the pool. Bergerac and perigeux are a short drive but the nearest caves or attractions for kids were a bit further at between 1-2 hours away.

We found the pillows too firm and large. This is of course subjective but we did all agree a softer, lighter pillow would have made for a much better night's sleep! We were unable to access wifi as the laptop we brought could not connet to the ethernet cable.
