Stellenhof Country Estate

This is my third visit to Stellenhof in the past 5 months. That is testimony in and of itself. The estate is beautiful, the rooms and the domes are stylish, clean and comfortable and show exquisite taste. But what makes this establishment stand out above all others is the exceptional hospitality that never disappoints. Maritza the manager is very capable and competent, kind, attentive and caring, organised and always willing to solve any problems or guest wishes with ease and with a smile. She’s the best manager I’ve experienced in the past 3 years and her staff are amazing. The team of 7 extremely hard-working ladies who do everything at the guesthouse with attention to detail and always with the sweetest of smiles and best of wills, from house keeping to even cooking the food and serving the guests. They always go above and beyond and always make you feel like family. I love Stellenhof for the Welcome I get each time - it’s a joy to bring people here and they are always blown away by the beauty of the house and the hospitality that just gets better and better each time. So, thank you Maritza and Yolanda, Noleen, Zoey Dene and Tascha. You all rock!

The property has a pizza oven and an outside grill, but I’ve never experienced either. I have suggested this before and reiterate yet again that Stellenhof should offer one night a week pizza night, so that the pizza oven is on and one can actually have a pizza , and I think it would be fabulous if there was one night a week a braai night. Foreigners would love a traditional South African braai, and it’s actually a meal that the ladies can easily make.As a foreigner I can assure you that You usually only get a braai if you’re invited to someone’s home. So this would be a nice way to be sociable and share your culture and have good food and experience a braai - And it would probably be easy for the ladies to make. I also wish that the footpaths would be extended to the doors of the domes and the paths would be laid across the grass from the entrance gate. Currently you walk on muddy grass as the footpaths are only half finished and not well lit. And considering the owners own a citrus farm with thousands of trees I would love fresh pressed juice ( which Maritza kindly went out of her way and picked some for me and had it pressed which I truly appreciated) and a bowl of fresh home grown fruit freely available and I think you’d have a market for home made citrus Marmelade instead of spar bought jam. I experienced this on another citrus farm nearby where they offered lemon and orange homemade marmalade as for breakfast and it was always delicious and sold out. Honey would also be a plus at breakfast.

It was very lovely place.The rooms had everything we needed including an air conditioner which great because it was cold.The staff were very friendly. Also the food was delicious.

It's a bit far from the main road, having to travel on a gravel road but not too bad, any car can travel through.

4th time a charm! Stellenhof is like an oasis of peace, style and beauty in a complicated, harsh and busy world. I love coming here, it never disappoints. The staff are wonderful : kind and caring and helpful, they always go out of their way to help each and every guest. Thank you Maritza and your wonderful team for your hospitality.

amazing safari guide (Aubrey), manager told us the “secret passage” through the national park to Port Elizabeth next to the accommodation, service was friendly, estate looked nice.

mouldy walls, “wet dog” smell in the bungalows, no door between toilet and bedroom in the bungalows (might be a problem for some guests), quiet hard to access, especially after sun is down (bumpy way with no lights).
