The host was extremely friendly and helpful. The family room was a good size with everything we could need including a small bath. It was a nice change staying in traditional style accomodation. Breakfast was substantial with many different foods to try. The host even showed us the town and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend.

The host gives the place a real character. She loves being back in her hometown after years of stressful Tokyo life. Hundreds of photos of previous guests adorn the walls... if you love chatting to the locals, this place is for you!
The city itself doesn't have a great deal to offer. But Hisui Cafe makes it an entertaining stopover between Toyama and Niigata. In about 4 hours, my wife went from complaining about stopping here, to demanding a return trip next year!
