Everything. A great place, off the beaten path. Quiet. Scenic. Spotlessly clean. Japanese.
Having to leave.

What a fresh place! In the country and a very homey feel. Gracious host who gave excellent recommendations for a nearby onsen right on a river. Friendly guests.
Just one toilet downstairs for all to share

A really nice alternative guesthouse with a lovely bohemian flair - musical instruments dotted around and cosy shared spaces perfect for enjoying good company. It's a comfortable way to experience one of the very old Japanese houses you see in Shirakawa-go. The shared rooms and kitchen are wonderful, the staff were super friendly, and our room was clean, well equipped, and big enough for a family of four.
The only thing we'd note is that the room's sound insulation could have been a little better.
