The property was extremely well maintained and the facilities were great. However the level of service that the owners showcased was exceptional. Questions were answered extremely quickly, they were very kind and caring, making sure our stay was pleasant. We felt that they went the extra mile for us, and are very appreciative of that!

The property was a bit far from the station, however walking or taking the bus is not a problem at all.

It's a traditional house with incredible hospitality. Having experienced uncountable hotels/homestays in Japan, this place was one of our favourites (we were a couple with the parents, inc japanese father, discovering the Nakasendo trail). The hosts are so kind, caring, helpful, and engaged. We sat together with them and other guests in the evening, they provided drinks and snacks, also offered to pick up and drop us off to the station (it's not far and it's a nice walk, but the weather was bad). Our room was quite big with tatami mats and the beds (we all thought) were extremely comfortable. One of the best sleeps we all had. The toilet and shower area were clean. We can use the kitchen space freely which is also a comfortable space. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a safe, comfortable space to stay with the kindest and loveliest hosts possible. By the way, they even dried our wet shoes over night.

This is a small local family business. Our hosts gave us a warm welcome even though they were very busy. The accommodation is cosy, impeccably clean and there are free laundry facilities. Our hosts’s son spoke very good English and he gave us some good travel tips (ie. the Hotel Onsen 10 minutes down the road is worthwhile and don’t miss a visit to Atera Gorge) which we did and really enjoyed. We were especially grateful for the hosts kind offer of driving us into Kiso Village for dinner. In fact, they checked restaurants had availability for us, took us there and picked us up afterwards. Incredible hospitality!

Nothing to dislike.

The owners were very friendly and helpful. The husband drove me to two onsens but both were closed. He also drove us to dinner and to the train station the next morning. We ate at their restaurant and the meal was excellent. The beds were comfortable and our room had nice view over their garden. it was in a very quiet neighborhood.

There is very little within walking distance, no onsen or restaurants and it took over 30 minutes to reach the accommodation by public bus. After a long day hiking the Nakasendo trail I was ready to rest. There is only one bathroom for all the guests. There were five guests in total and we had to wait to access bathroom and the one toilet. The room upstairs where we stayed was plain and tired, it could use new furniture. The room on the ground floor was Japanese style and much nicer. I am not sure where the common room was supposed to be, the kitchen or front room? It felt like we were staying at the owners' house not in a guesthouse.
