Great location, great value for money and wonderful facilities!

The location to Echo Beach and surrounding surf spots was great, could walk down to the beach and to any interesting attractions in the local area.

I was fully aware when I booked it, but in hindsight, I would have selected a room/villa with a pool view as opposed to the apartment block style lodgings. But I was fully aware of this going in, as price was a deciding factor. Next time a pool villa!

Great stay near the beach and shopping street.

Lovely stay at this hotel that is located 5 minutes away from Echo Beach and the main shopping streets in Canggu. There is a bar next door, but they upgraded our room to the far opposite side, so it was very quiet. The staff was friendly and the buffet breakfast very decent. I would probably go back if I were to stay in Canggu again.

Nice hotel, excellent location, great value for money

I liked everyting with special mention to: - Room comfort and facilities, comfortable mattress - Nice swimming pools - Delicious breakfast, well-varied with many options - Good location—the hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the beach.

Two things to mention: 1- There is a pub/bar directly in front of the hotel with live, loud music until very late (1–2 a.m.). If you stay in a street-facing room, you will hear the noise at night, which may not be ideal if you are looking to rest and sleep. 2- Internet connection is not good, it's very unstable, so no ideal if you need to work from your room.

When I checked in I told the desk I would be gone before my breakfast included, and they said a meal would be packed for takeaway. Like. When I checked out at 4 a.m. it wasn't there. A misunderstanding, my mistake, didn't specifically order it.

Not the hotel's fault, but local politics don't allow Gojek drivers on the street near the beach. Must call a local higher-cost taxi or scooter, or walk 300 meters up the street. I was in a 3rd floor room on the back of the hotel, and the music from the bar across the street still carried into my room.

The staff were super polite and helpful. The entrance has a shallow pool with a large stepping stone that leads to the adjoining restaurant, and it had some some fish swimming around in it.

We are a family of three, including an 11-year-old girl, and we are working professionals who are happy to pay a bit more for a nice hotel. As we are out most of the day and essentially just in the hotel to sleep, we don’t really need a 5-star unless it’s a real bargain. We arrived in Canggu as our last destination in Bali and through out our stay had been experiencing lovely 4star accommodations, in Kuta, Ubud, and Uluwatu. This may have affected our experience of Echo Pappilon Hotel. The staff were lovely and always were quick to respond to our requests for towels and toilet paper. They were happy, polite, and did their best. However, we had a few issues. We were put in a room on the right side of the building with an 11-year-old. The bar opposite played live music until 11 p.m. While we understand people want to have a good time on holiday, this was a downside for us. We would not have booked this hotel if we had known about the noise. Another issue was the noise in the corridor. The doors were ‘paper thin’, so conversations sounded like they were in our room. The room had French windows and from the design side was very gappy, so sound got in through that. The hotel itself was also run down. The images you may see on Google, Booking.com, etc., hide the dated, dirty, damaged, and run-down décor. After one night, we decided to leave early and go back to Kuta. The staff were concerned about our early departure, which I felt showed they cared. However, I felt they must know that the hotel has an issue and we aren’t the first to complain. They offered us a back room (which is more money) for a ‘free upgrade’, but I feel people should be warned about the noise beforehand, especially those with young children. I have also read reviews where others have complained about the noise over the years. Why hasn’t the hotel installed better soundproofing with the windows?

A hidden gem in Echo Beach

A hidden gem in Echo Beach. And, my favorite hotel in Bali. I’ve been coming back for years. I book the queen room, at the back, so quiet and a pool just outside the door. Really shouldn’t tell you this but I guess they have to have business when I’m not there too. It’s close to beach and surf spots, La Brisa and other restaurants. Supermarket opposite the hotel, and just a short walk away you’ll find Canggus busy streets with food and shopping. But this is a quiet oasis.

Pleasant stay in a great location for Echo beach & surrounds

Friendly staff welcomed me to Papillon Echo Beach and made it extra pleasant. They offered a welcome drink - choice of juice or iced tea at a time I would like to redeem which was a nice touch as I got in late. Had my choice of 3 different pools to swim in and so there was always privacy! Great location for Echo beach, La Brisa and surrounds - all walking distance. Thank you for a wonderful stay in Canggu!

Shower was not in good shape with the shower head shooting in many directions! Overall the bathroom was tired and needed some work. But otherwise manageable but would have definitely improved the stay.

We needed washing done before flying out, on the Thursday morning at 5.30am, we were told by two staff members that if the washing was put in by 8am Wednesday morning, the laundry would be done by late afternoon. When we went to collect Wednesday evening the laundry was not there and wouldn't be at the hotel till Thursday morning, Im sorry for the recepionist as that was not acceptable as we were told same day service. Not very happy. We went and got a coffee and the receptionist had followed the laundry up and it was delivered to our room by 9pm. All I ask is that everyone at the reception is on the same page. It is not our first time at the Papillion and wont be our last, we enjoy being there.

Good value for money - get the pool room

The location is fantastic, just few steps from the beach and La Brisa. The hotel is not new but it’s a good value for money for sure. Tip: take rooms by the pool, they are way better and much more quiet since there is a pretty loud bar just across the street which makes the stay in standard (not pool) rooms quite uncomfortable.

The staff were amazing. I had a medical episode whilst staying here. The staff came immediately to help, called a doctor and helped out where they could. 10/10 The king room was spacious and the outdoor bathroom very large and nice. Room cleaners did a great job too.

A few more lounges around the pool would be good.
