Our stay at Herons Lake Retreat was absolutely wonderful! The cabin itself is incredibly cozy and charming, and having a hot tub to unwind in each evening was a bonus. The setting is stunning! we loved taking walks around the lakes and soaking in the beautiful scenery, especially at night it's so romantic. The lodge was spotlessly clean and well-equipped with a Smart TV, comfortable sofas, and all the all kitchen essentials we needed. The staff were so welcoming and lovely, it was reassuring to know that help was just a phone call away, even out of hours, and they always attended to things promptly. We honestly couldn't fault a thing

Everything else about our stay was wonderful, though I do have a couple of minor points that might be helpful for future guests. The bathroom faucet was a bit stiff to operate, and the shower could have benefited from a quick wipe down upon arrival, a simple rinse sorted it out, though. Also, as the lodge is entirely wood-floored, I’d highly recommend packing a pair of indoor slippers to keep things extra cozy 😊

Spacious kitchen/ living room area. Mattress, pillows and duvet were very soft and comfortable so got a great nights sleep. Opposite the lake so had a beautiful view, hot tub was all ready to go when arrived. Staff were helpful to sort some issues.

The electrics to the fire kept tripping so the lodge was quite cold in the mornings. Hardly any cooking utensils and one small blunt knife to chop food. No HDMI cable to watch the DVD player with. Blinds in living area were snapped, tear to sofa cover and some damage at the bottom of the onsuite door. Did not like the lack of nets on the windows as it was everything with the curtains closed or a bit of showing off if you know what I mean. Very high pressure of the water so kept getting wet when turning taps on. And tiny sinks in bathrooms with cabinets overhead which meant clunking your head everytime you tried to brush your teeth.

The place itself is stunning and in a great location. When I rang and raised a concern about the cleanliness of the lodge reception did send a member of the housekeeping team to clean the windows and surfaces.

I have stayed here a few times years ago and it seems to have gone a bit downhill from then. The room was filthy and run down with dead bugs and dust behind the tv stand. The carpet was stained and had a bad odour, the windows were covered with handprints, when we got the ice bucket out it had rotten grapes and used tea bags in it, there was a questionable looking dirt mark on the wall, the coffee table had spills all over it from the previous people who stayed there, there was a hole in the back of the door in the main bedroom and scratches all over the kitchen worktops and dining table. My car was also nearly hit by a staff member who was driving up the hill in a golf cart as they were talking to someone walking up the hill when driving and had to swerve to avoid a collision. The hot tub went really cold and did not seem to work properly.
