Can't beat the Murray Hostel.

Great place to stay in a historic building on the harbourfront.

Adequate private room with shared bathroom/kitchen facilities.

Room was bright and clean with a wash hand basin and good view of the harbour. Double bed was big & very comfortable. Singular communal toilet was clean. Twin communal showers were clean but one had an inadequate door lock. Communal kitchen is excellent.

No bedside light(s); no desk; no TV; single coat hanger on coats/umbrellas stand; no tumbler. Hot water tap in room wash hand basin took about 10 minutes to deliver warm/hot water. Communal showers took about 10 minutes to deliver warm/hot water. Bedroom decor is very dated.

Excellent budget option for Anstruther

You can't beat the location of this hostel in Anstruther. It's right at the bus stop and close to everything. Supermarket is a 5-10 minute walk away. The hostel is very well run and very clean. Bathrooms are great. Great showers! We never had to wait for a shower and there is a sink in the room as well. We usually stay in hotels, not hostels, but we had a private room and we were perfectly happy with Murray Library.

We had a sea view room, but the position of the bed in relation to the window meant that we couldn't sit in bed and look out the window at the view.

Fabulous few days walking the Fife coastal path .

Loved the hostel, calm and comfortable, good kitchen and great showers( very important after a long days walking) Good to be so very close to bus links along the coast.

Super cute, super clean. We had a great time. Lovely and forthcoming staff.

Our room had quite thin walls. If we‘d stayed longer and wanted to sleep in, that would have been hard depending on other guests staying in the room next door. But everything else was wonderful. A place worth checking out.

it was good but be aware - rooms are packed

location & services are good easy check in through codes sent online 1 day before laundry for 10pounds & fast if there is not too much demand

bed are checking if both levels are used: it disturb the night. it would be better with 6 max per room and not 8 personnes. we happened to have 2-3 snory people from 8 … it was a little too packed and warmy - sticky in the morning i can’t see how there is place for 8 if all are with trecking backpack.

Great place to stay in the East Neuk

Great location, facing the sea. Beautiful spacious kitchen. Great showers. I stayed in the 8 bed dorm room and it was ideal, my bunk was really comfy. Great value option for the East Neuk. Darius, the owner, was friendly & welcoming. Bus stops just outside. An award winning chippy and a local bakery just nearby.

Excellent host, sparkly clean, lovely other travellers, gorgeous communal space, excellent cinnamon buns in the free food box. Right next to bus stop on the harbour front. Couldn’t have been better

Great hostel! Super comfy bed and cosy duvet , everything super clean. Really quiet with great seaview from my 1st floor room.. Darius was really lovely and helpful. Perfect.

Comfortable and friendly

For a hostel in a small tow n it has everything you could want and more, it does work by a self check in system, but the email explains everything. Alan was very helpful and gave me advice on how to get around.

You need to ask for towels and the lockers under the beds can be a squeeze, besides that, fantastic location and staff.

Everything, it was a great hostel, we were in a room, it was really lovely. Showers and loos were fab. Totally perfect except the kids leaving a mess this morning after their breakfast. 🥴

Perfect sea view and comfortable bed

We stayed for two nights with our 4yo child in our own room with a private bathroom. It was super clean and well maintained, and the view was unbeatable. The property had some interesting local history to read about, the shared kitchen and living room were bright and spacious, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The bed was comfortable too! It exceeded our expectations of a hostel, and it was perfect for a family vacation.

Great location on the beach front. Clean and comfortable. Well equipped kitchen. Close to eating and drinking places. Ideally placed for Fife coastal path. Binoculars provided in room great for watching birds on the beach!

The double bed in the family room was super comfy but the mattresses in the bunk bed didn't seem too comfy for my daughters. They were pleased to get back to their own beds!

Lovely vieuw, comfy bed, very clean. Could do with a small table to sit at write/read. Over-bed reading light. Small shelf over basins to put things on. All just non-essential but comfort-increasing; don't always want to sit in the communal spaces.

It was amazing two and a half / 3 days there and getting to experience new places

The location where you can get the to and from other areas or to walk around to other places, looking out the window over the pier and beach, a back room where you can relax play games, read books or even look out of the sky scraper all round amazing.

Very comfortable bed, large kitchen, opportunity to meet lots of interesting people.

This was nothing to do with the hostel. It was just bad luck that I had a noisy person in my shared dormitory who got up several times in the night.

Delightful stay in the charming Murray Library Hostel. Anstruther seaside beauty!

A cosy, accommodating hostel, in an old building brimming w/personality! Excellently located. Woke up to the sound of waves slowly crashing up against the shore. The kitchen was well-equipped and spacious, the toilets and showers were clean and well-maintained. The bed was delightfully comfortable, and the hostel itself was inviting, charming, and wonderful. Darius was friendly, prompt, and professional. My stay in Anstruther was excellent thanks to the lovely Murray Library Hostel :-)

I did not like the brevity of my stay...I would have liked to stay longer! :-D

Prime Spot next to all amenities, safe and secure, great value for money!

Did not know what to expect as I haven't never stayed in a hostel before but it was a late deal and we could not get accommodation in the town. It surpassed every expectation! Lovely room with a comfy bed, very clean, showers and toilets. Kitchen area had fresh flowers in a vase which were beautiful. Host very accommodating and building very secure, he always appeared when we came in, so we felt he was vigilant and felt very safe. Tea and Coffee supplied in the kitchen and plenty of space to prepare food and relax if you need it. Location was so central and a bus stop right outside, we had a sea view which was a bonus. We usually would have en suite but the two toilets available were spotless as were the shower areas. Highly recommend this wee hostel in the old Library building!

Probably could do with a hanging wardrobe, we stayed 2 nights as extended our trip to this area last minute, there was only a coat stand and small drawers.
