Good apart from the most important thing. The bed was lousy.
Nice clean room with great view. Nicely furnished. Darius was very friendly. Great old building with lots of character.
The mattress needs replaced. It sunk in the middle and was uneven.

The Murray Library far exceeded my expectations. It is full of quirky charm and historic features.
The hostel is so quaint and beautiful, lots of lovely little interesting features through out it. The kitchen/dining room is so spacious, modern and bright, with everything you could need. The reading room is very cosy with lots of space for chilling out. I stayed in the family room with my 2 teenagers, there was plenty of room for the 3 of us. The beds were very comfy! The room was very clean and well equipped, as was the private bathroom. The view was beautiful! Looking right out over the bay. Parking was easy to find, on the street round the back of the hostel, however this might be a different story in the middle of summer. The manager Darius was very welcoming and friendly, and made us feel very comfortable during our stay. I truly loved my stay at Murray Library, and I will definitely stay there again.
Maybe a slightly later check out would be nice, especially travelling with teenagers who can never wake up in the morning.

Adequate private room with shared bathroom/kitchen facilities.
Room was bright and clean with a wash hand basin and good view of the harbour. Double bed was big & very comfortable. Singular communal toilet was clean. Twin communal showers were clean but one had an inadequate door lock. Communal kitchen is excellent.
No bedside light(s); no desk; no TV; single coat hanger on coats/umbrellas stand; no tumbler. Hot water tap in room wash hand basin took about 10 minutes to deliver warm/hot water. Communal showers took about 10 minutes to deliver warm/hot water. Bedroom decor is very dated.

Excellent budget option for Anstruther
You can't beat the location of this hostel in Anstruther. It's right at the bus stop and close to everything. Supermarket is a 5-10 minute walk away. The hostel is very well run and very clean. Bathrooms are great. Great showers! We never had to wait for a shower and there is a sink in the room as well. We usually stay in hotels, not hostels, but we had a private room and we were perfectly happy with Murray Library.
We had a sea view room, but the position of the bed in relation to the window meant that we couldn't sit in bed and look out the window at the view.
