Great property and so so close to the beach. Really nice owner too. The rooms are so clean and so neat. The sound of the cicadas is beyond amazing!

Kalivani, Agarothos Rooms

The accommodation and pool were good, very clean, picturesque rural location, loved the toads around and in the pool at night, the views, two good restaurants just beside the apartments

Was initially difficult to find as the large sign outside said something different, shower wasn't very good and should be replaced, Gramvoussa restaurant is very popular and the traffic going there in the evening really spoils the ambience and is also dangerous in such a small area, the driving and reversing was absolute bedlam, the fumes awful (whilst trying to have dinner a few feet away) and dangerous, especially to cats and dogs (one wee kitten was reversed over and killed last week), there is another road which could and should be used in the evening to park. As it is we wouldn't return because of this.

You should definitely include this place in your trip

I booked my accommodation the moment I returned from the beautiful Balos lagoon. I called the host and within 5 minutes we were in the room. I chose the smallest room, but it had all the amenities and enough space for a short break in the village. Very neat and clean room. Very beautiful view and garden and pool. I really wanted to stay there longer, it is a very special place. Breakfast served right in the garden. There is an instagram picture worthy and tasteful restaurant in the village with amazing service.

The view, the surroundings, the pool, the size of the room, the best breakfast had in crete so far! The place is also walking distance from very good restaurants

Absolutely loved our stay. Perfect size for a family of 4. Pool area was a great addition as we needed a day to just do nothing and laze by the pool. Close to best restaurants/tavernas. The village of Kaliviani is gorgeous

It`s a nice place to stay, for a couple of days, but it`s better in summer

Apartments were very clean, there was electric pot, coffee machine and tea bags, small fridge, but there is nowhere to cook. Also the view is very beautiful, but in the apartments there were no big windows. Also we had a small terrass, but better to spend time near the pool. There is breakfast for 8 euro, but I don`t think it worth it. Though nearby there are tavernas, where you can buy food and the ration price - amount is very good. This is the closest place to the Balos lagoon

In the apartment there was no hot water, so it was impossible to take warm shower.

Peaceful getaway with a country feeling in a perfect location

The location was perfect - in a nice, quiet village Kaliviani, 8 km away of the pristine Balos lagoon, and close to a bigger city Kissamos. Indeed nice neighborhood and surroundings. Close to the beach. There’s a mini market in the village. 2 min away 2 restaurants, one next to each other. I tried Gramvousa which had lovely caring staff and superb food. It was possible to order breakfast in the accommodation as well for 8€ with a nice garden view or by the pool. Really nice, relaxing place.

Everything was perfect. We had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The garden and the pool were very nice. Room was cleaned every day, everyone was friendly, even the local cats. Very quiet place, some very good tavernas nearby. Good position for Balos beach and to explore the west side of the island.

Superb

Location is excellent, 30 minutes from Balos and Falassana beaches. But more importantly, the little village in witch the property is located has four restaurants. We only tried one of them and it was fantastic. The pool area is nice with views of the ocean and since there are only five rooms, it will not get crowded. All in all, a super place when visiting the area. Family of four, kids 9 and 11. Both slept well on the sofa bed and there was enough room for us all.

Beds are a little hard according to our taste but that is a general issue in Crete. If you plan on spending your time in the close by beach (5 minutes walking distance), don’t! You come here to visit Balos, Falassana, Elafonisi, so a car is a must.

An authentic experience

We’ve spent 5 wonderful days at Agarathos apartment, absorbed in the colture and the stunning landscape of the western part of the island. The rooms are spacious and with practical forniture, the cleaning is punctual every day. The garden with the pool is peaceful and with a very nice with over the sea. The host was very committed to make our stay as better as possible. The town is close to Balos and Falasarna and plenty of other good places for hikers. Finally the food (we were half board) was the best we had in Crete, especially the quality of the ingredients of dinner, everything farm-to-table. ps The Wi-Fi connection was perfect and for me it was really important since I was smart working some times.

Perfect place to stay /work.

The wifi was lightning fast (important for work!). The food at the restaurant was fantastic. The owners were very sweet, and the facilities were excellent. Also, it was so close to Balos! I really loved staying here. I wish I could have stayed longer.

cemetery/church view, pool smaller than the pics, garden seems more accurate than the pics, pool not well clean and sunombrella missing, car traffic due the proximity of Balos in a small and unpaved road that should be a pedestrial area, no private parking, many cars parked from afternoon, misunderstanding on daily tax payment

The apartment was very clean and well fournished. It has a small garden and a nice pool were you can relax in the evening. Breakfast was generous and delicious. We recommend eating in Agarathos tavern!
