great to have this beautiful place almost to ourselves in early November with a warm welcome

A beautiful view of Falassarna beach and golden sunsets - we could hear the waves quite often. The rustic style of the building is a nice change from much of the very swanky development in the area, but did not lack comfort and convenience.

We really hope Falassarna will resist the rush to over-develop as it is still just about unspoiled, with lots of farming still going on and not too many houses to obstruct the amazing views. If there is to be more development it should be like Golden Sun!

Despite a few inconveniences, I recommend both the apartments and the hosts.

Nice views from almost every apartment, especially those on the first floor. Nice and helpful hosts. Cool rooms finished in stone and wood. Very close to a supermarket.

The photos of the view from the balcony do not always match the photos of the interior of the apartment, which is misleading and creates misunderstandings when renting. You spend time choosing the room with the view you would like and are surprised that some elements are different than in the photos. The kitchen equipment could be better. A bit close to the street with cars passing by. When you get an apartment located closest to the road, it is audible and you cannot choose a specific one from above (you choose the standard, not the location).

Beautiful spot for gazing at the aegean

The view from the balcony was priceless... and we had such a warm friendly welcome - what a lovely family. The grounds/ gardens are beautifully kept and the room was cosy, the kitchen had everything you need to make simple dinners on the balcony which we did frequently. What a spot for sunset. Also our hosts helped us with motorbike hire - they were very friendly.

Worst experience ever

If one wants to find something good to say: the view from the balcony is ok, but there is a street directly in front of the property.

Terrible beds, no slatted frame under the mattress, all of us got a terrible backpain already after the first night (I‘m a young person with no back issues). It‘s very dark, hot and stuffy in the house, the fridge smelled terrible, the house wasn‘t particularly clean. The air condition seems quite old. We left already after the first night as I didn’t want to spend my holiday in pain. The host wasn‘t understanding at all (I didn‘t even hear an „I‘m sorry“, I only got offered an orthopaedic topper but I wouldn’t want to risk another painfull night as I suspected only a topper won’t solve the problem), he got quickly very unfriendly as we said we‘d rather leave and was totally unfair as he first agreed on that we only had to pay 50% of the whole price (so it‘s a 50:50 loss for both) but then, days later, he just changed his mind and we had to pay 100% of the booked time. So I can absolutely not recommend this accommodation. Lucky for us we found another wonderful place with comfy beds and nice hosts that saved our holiday. Paying good money for this bad place and unfair hosts leaves a bad memory though. So if you book this place either be really sure that you really like it in advance or secure a good cancellation policy - you can’t expect any accommodation from the hosts, there‘s no understanding or fairness there.

Excellent vacation

Very roomy, gorgeous rustic wood-and-stone style, very clean. The owners live on the premises and they make themselves available 24/7. There was a problem with the air conditioning but they fixed it half a day after I reported it (very quickly, if you ask me). Excellent location, 2 minutes walk from the grocery store and 10 minutes walk from the beautiful Falassarna beach. Many taverns nearby. The owners also sell honey, wine and olive oil of their own production, but I haven't tried them.

The wi-fi signal was very weak in one of the bedrooms; some of the towels, albeit clean, were quite worn out.

Superb

Located a little above the main beach area which meant the apartment had a breeze, quiet location and a view of the sea and the gardens. A very pretty set-up of apartments all with balconies facing the sea. Apartments are comfortable with little kitchenettes. Owners were very friendly with great suggestions where to eat.

Comfortable rooms in a quiet spot, easy access to the beach. Parking.

Superb location literally five minutes walk to the beach. Room had a terrace with views over a pleasant garden to the sea. Quiet and comfortable. Situated 5 minutes walk to a supermarket. (which was generally expensive) Easy access by bus from Chania. The beach is beautiful, extensive, and gets much quieter as you walk farther along.

Not great, just ok

The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The location is easy to find, accessible and beautiful, surrounded by nature and close to the Falassarna beach. The beds were fairly comfortable and we were given nice bed sheets and towels.

The apartment was cold when we arrived, it would have been nice to warm it up a little before our arrival. The bathroom was pretty bad, the shower curtain was very old and unpleasant. When we took a shower the water leaked and the floor was full of water til the next day. The space to seat on the toilet was super small. When taking a shower in the morning the water was cold. We didn't try to cook but the kitchen area wasn't greatly equipped, either.

Quiet, perfect view and location

The apartment was spacious and just like on the photos. we loved the view and quietness, it is also walking distance to the beach and shop and restaurants. Perfect for sunset (early October). The hosts were thoughtful and helped us to jump start our small Fiat Panda just after we checked out and couldn’t leave. All in all a great, relaxing stay!

The WiFi was a bit slow but it worked and did not bother us. A bit of a lack of kitchen utensils but nothing the hosts could not fix.

Incredible place, views and sunsets!

The view from our balcony on Falasarna beach was just incredible. Golden Sun Apts is situated a very short distance from the beautiful beach of Falasarna, and is surrounded by nice taverns where you can experience local cousine. The hosts were very friendly, always available and accommodating.

One minor thing we could point out is the abundance of cicadas, which are however everywhere in Crete!

Great location in a beautiful peaceful part of Crete

Perfect location, near supermarket and just a short walk to fantastic beach. Loved having a balcony with evening sun. Place was lovely and quiet, apart from the cicades which were very vocal! We actually recorded them to play at home. No evidence of misquitoes which was great.

The location was perfect. Just a short walk to the beach. The couple that run the accomodation work soo very hard to maintain excellent facilities. You just need to ask and communicate well with from the start of the trip. We will be back again.

Superb

The owner family was incredible friendly and very helpful. Thank you very much. Breakfast was nice and with local products. You can walk within 10 minutes to the big sandy beach. The rooms are very well equipped with small kitchen, balcony etc. Furniture etc. is a bit out of time, not the newest pieces, but nicely decorated.

The location - close to the mini-market, bus station and to the big beach. The towels have been changed daily. Nice garden - a lot of plants. Very good price. Nice owners.

Although the room was cleaned daily, everything was so old - especially the bathroom - that it was impossible to look clean. Smelly Bad and quite small bed for two persons. Window with no mosquito net - we saw mice climbing the grapevine, so they could easily enter the room. We had to keep a close eye on the windows every evening.

A localização era excelente, muito próximo da praia, minimercados e tavernas. Zona muito sossegada, só se ouviam as cabras e os galos. Escolhi um quarto com vista de mar e era magnífico olhar para aquele mar azul todos os dias de manhã. A varanda era óptima para tomar o pequeno-almoço. Do outro lado as montanhas, maravilhoso! Os quartos e cozinha estão equipados com o essencial, é possível fazer refeições. Há cobertores para as noites mais frescas. Anfitriões muito simpáticos e disponíveis.

Relação qualidade/preço em época quase baixa, mesmo com vista de mar. Internet falhou praticamente todos os dias porque o router do meu quarto estava com problemas. Só foi substituído um dia antes de ir embora. Não teria problemas em ficar sem internet, até porque queria descansar, mas precisava mesmo de enviar um email urgente e não tinha rede no meu telemóvel.
