    I stayed in many places during my one month in South Island and Manowhenua Lodge was hands-down the cream of the crop! I spent 3 days here and it felt like a home away from home. Tom and Tracy run a tight ship, but it reflects in the excellence this place exudes. They treated us like family. There is a beautiful huge lounge area, an excellently equipped and clean kitchen, and clean and comfortable bedroom and bathroom facilities. If you're planning to do the Tongariro Crossing, don't waste your time with all the other booking options available online. Just book with Tom the day before your trip and you'll get picked up and dropped off at the door. It's NZD5 cheaper too! If you plan a stay in National Park, Manowhenua Lodge is highly recommended. It's "whenua-menal"! :D
