For an extremely old, historic building, it was very well maintained. The restaurant was very nice and the room was clean and comfortable and had everything that was needed.

Good to check into a privately owned hotel where we received a warm welcome. Very good central location where we were able to enjoy on street parking right outside the front door.
The food was all home cooked and a very good quality.
Arguably the hotel is a litlle dated but some peoples dated is someone elses old world charm. We're with the latter.

Comfortable room and bed. Amazing food. Friendly staff
Friday night drinkers in the bar made my room noisy until late.

The electric shower flipped from freezing cold trickle to boiling hot trickle alternatively scalding me or pumping out freezing cold water with literally nothing in between.
That is my only gripe. The staff were perfectly nice and the room was okay-ish for the money but the shower was a totally unsatisfactory. It took me nearly 15 minutes to get all the shampoo off me because I had to stop when the water was boiling and there was no medium point that could be locked in. They should buy a new shower for room 4.

Had an evening meal quickly prepared & very good.
Varied choice for breakfast, satisfied the three of us for the day ahead

Breakfast was lovely....all freshly cooked
The staircase is very tight, but the building is a few hundred years old so you shouldn't be surprised

I don't appear to register on the faces above, but all were face 3 - the smile one. Pleasant staff and a cozy room. Facilities okay. Food was nice in the restaurant. Would stay again as very good value for money. Nice situation in the town too.
Sink didn't retain water - plug not engaging fully in Room 10

Area was great
No hot water at all in one of our rooms.. when Staff approached they were not helpful

Comfy bed, quiet room, adequate tea/coffee/TV
A little alarmed at the 'welcome', despite our early arrival. Bathroom was clean but very small. Nowhere to hang towels, nowhere to put shower gels etc. Sink was tiny. The curtain was hanging as it had come away from the rail - we replaced by standing on a chair. The TV remote did not work on on/off...I suspect it needs new batteries. We extended our stay, pre-arrival, for a second night, which was kindly organised for the same room to save us changing - much appreciated. Although breakfast was included, we were unable to take advantage, as we had to leave early on both days...no account was taken or discount offered. We understand this is mandatory via the comparison websites but five breakfasts not eaten could surely have resulted in some 'give' for the directly booked second night?

My friend and I were taking part in ultra marathon near by and needed a one night accommodation. This B&B was the only choice we had (everywhere else was booked) but a great one. It had all we needed for our stay. We also had dinner there when we arrived - delicious food!. Loved the pub too! Staff were very accommodating - because of the race starting early in the morning, we missed breakfast but we were given lunch to take instead (apples were amazing!). I would recommend this place.

Location
Lack of coffee choices for breakfast. Only filter coffee available but we could have purchased latte/cappuccino coffees
Shower and toilet areas extremely small and in poor decorative order
On Sundays we knew the restaurant/bar was closed but we didn't realise our bedroom would not be made up and the bedroom tea/milk was not topped up so we bought some milk from a shop
Also the price of the dinner meal deal was actually more expensive than ordering from their restaurant menu

Loads of character, a little difficult to navigate the stairs if you are somewhat infirm but it is a very old building. Good breakfast cooked to order. Staff very friendly and helpful. A very nice stay.

Breakfast was good. The room was nice. I was with family so the layout was useful around the chimney as it made it feel separated out.
Main bed was not the most comfortable as low down as we were in the eves of the building but not that bad.
9.0 / 10.0
The property was warm, comfortable and clean. The building is full of character features and steeped in history. The location was very good for visiting local places of interest and in the heart of the town. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly and welcoming. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of cupboard space to hang clothes etc.
The toilet seat was unattached when we arrived (my partner re attached it himself). The shower cubicle was very small making showering quite a tricky task. There is a slight feel that the carpets and decor is getting a little ‘tired’.

Great value for money wee place if looking to stay in this pretty and quaint English village. Breakfast was delicious and staff were so friendly. An extra blanket would have been a bonus if you’re like me and like to be cosy! But I would still give it 10/10 and would definitely stay again. Thank you for a fabulous stay

Good location on main shopping street
My WC/ bathroom had a very noisy macerator and on one occasion the WC wouldn’t flush - the noise of the macerator disturbed friends in nearby rooms.
Housekeeping was a bit haphazard.
Parking on arrival was difficult with work men’s vans taking up most spaces

All okay there is nothing we did not like

(1) Initial impact was good. An authentic 16th century property. (2) The high street it was on was also good for a wander. (3) We actually got the separate beds that we requested - that can't be said of all hotels. (4) Good breakfasts. (5) An interesting link to Lawrence of Arabia. (6) The quirky tea-pots collection.
The mattresses and bedding may need replacing soon.
