Clean, well kept hotel with excellent staff.
Food was overpriced for the quality but everything else was great!

The location of the hotel was great to explore the Isle of Purbeck. Our rooms were compact, nicely decorated and the bathroom although also compact had good quality fittings. All very clean. The staff were nice and the food good.
Unfortunately we were made to feel an inconvenience being at the hotel at this time of year (5th- 7th January). The heating and fire was turned off in the bar where we were to eat our dinner. The temperature was -3 outside! When we asked the staff to turn the heating on they had to check with the owner first! We, along with our friends were the only guests staying at the hotel. The following evening when we returned at 8.45pm from dinner elsewhere, all of the downstairs was closed up and again heating off! We had hoped to have a drink at the bar and play some games, but it was freezing and the bar was locked!
At breakfast there were items not available from the menu and only childrens cereals. Items were purchased for the following morning.
We did make our disappointment know at the time and a modest reduction in the bill was made. We were subsequently told 'the hotel operate reduced hours of the bar and communal areas during particularly quiet periods especially at this time of year'.
That is rather important information that we should have been told beforehand and therefore would have had the opportunity to book into a different hotel.
We also feel we were penalised by booking with Booking.com, that being the reason we couldn't have a room upgrade, although all other rooms were empty on account of us being the only guests!!!

An old coaching inn, right in the middle of the attractive little town of Wareham, The Bear is also a popular place for locals drinking and eating in the bar. My room was quite small but cosy and well-fitted, with good shower and comfortable bed. Breakfasts were excellent, and I also had supper in the bar, interesting dishes and all good. The staff were all friendly and helpful and seemed to form a happy team; I noticed how kind they were with a slightly “difficult” old lady. The efficient “Breezer” bus to Corfe Castle, Swanage and Poole stops almost right outside.
Nothing worth noting.

Location
I had to move rooms as there was a loud party in the breakfast room below my room - the room I moved to was leaking due to the rainstorm so I had to move back and await the end of the party before I could get any sleep.

Interior of the hotel was welcoming and cosy. Staff were excellent, very attentive. Lovely clean room and bathroom. Good choices for breakfast
We were in Yogi room and right outside our window was the extractor from the kitchen which was very noisy so couldn't open window at night as too loud to sleep.

Individual character
Lovely breakfast
Quiet
A bit ‘different’
Good chef the night we ate at the hotel
No on site parking - which had been informed but was still a pain!
We stayed in ‘Yogi’ and the shelf above the sink was rusty which spoiled an otherwise lovely room.

My room was spacious, clean and tidy. It was furnished with everything you could need, a beautifully large comfortable bed, wardrobe, sofa, desk and chests of drawers. A large range of tea bags, coffee and kettle, plus bottled water were all provided in the room. Optional cleaning of the room and towel changes daily as required - just hang the door hanger out if required.
Nothing, it was perfect for me.

Central location, clean and staff were friendly.
No parking so I had to ensure parking charges covered the time correctly which can be done remotely if you have the correct parking app. Very noisy from next room due to lack of sound proofing. No view except roofs. Small room.

Breakfast glass pots of yoghurt were fantastic but not available our last day. The cooked options weren’t really my thing but others enjoyed them. Toast is a bit big and rustic though. Good tea and coffee and juices.
Staff were very helpful and charming throughout the hotel.
Cereals open to others same with the loose yoghurt and compote which I’m not keen on.
Dinner very odd and not pleasant chips. Serving rather tough lamb in a bowl made eating very difficult

The hotel was very easy to find and the location couldn’t have been any better for travels outside of the town. The staff were always friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good indeed both the buffet part and the english breakfast - definitely somewhere to recommend to anyone staying in that part of Dorset.
Nothing.

This hotel is the perfect base for any stay in Dorset, great location with lots of nice shops around and easy to access most things. The parking just down the road wasn't an issue and always plenty of spaces. We stayed with our dog and felt very welcome in all areas :)

Lovely staff, pretty room, great food and service and I love that you welcome dogs
My room was above the breakfast room so the sound of chairs and tables was really loud. I wish I’d been given a quieter room as I needed my sleep.
