Marlyn Lodge – City of London

Staff was lovely. Room was great except for ac. We booked this based on lift and ac. AC was nonexistent. Tiny unit in bedroom blew warm air. No ac in living room only a ceiling fan. Unit reached 90 degrees F. Only option was to leave hall door open to get it livable. Sleep was impossible. Even with a tower fan in bedroom and living room it was unbearable. If not for that I would recommed and give 5*.

AC that actually worked. It was unbearable hot. Cooler outside than in our apartment. I would not stay here in summer again.

We loved our stay at #108 Maryln Lodge! We felt this was home in London for two adults and an 11 year old boy. Dani was great! She was very helpful when we checked in and helped us when we had questions, such us making sure to get our safe fixed because it wasn’t working at first. Location - great! So close to two tube stations: Tower Hill and Aldgate. Also close to bus stops. If prefer walking, walking distance to many places - Tower of London, Tower Bridge, London Bridge, Sky Gardens, Leadenhall Market, etc. The best thing is the Tesco Express 2 minutes around the corner, for water, snacks, or groceries. Lots of bars, cafes, and restaurant options. There’s even a tiny park on our street. We had ample closet space and drawers in the master bedroom. Our son had the fold out sofa in the living room, and just kept his clothes in his luggage. The beds were comfortable, and the AC kept the place a nice balanced temperature. Even though our windows overlooked the parking lot, I still liked the view because there was space between our window and the next building.

The kitchen had enough pots and cooking utensils to serve our basic needs, though it could have used more. It was stocked with dish soap, sponge, a few coffee pods, tea, sticks of sugar and creamer, and even some Biscoff. There was an electric pot for boiling water, a Nespresso, a microwave, dishwasher, oven, and stove, fridge, and freezer. Enough plates, bowls, glasses, and mugs. Convenient to heat up our microwave dinners or leftovers from dining out, and cook breakfast. Daily cleaning! Oh my gosh, I somehow missed that when I booked the place, but someone comes in everyday to do a quick clean and washing of dishes, and then every 7 days they do a deeper clean. I liked the ample counter space in the bathroom. We also really liked the water pressure and temperature in the shower. Our towels were refreshed often. Overall, I loved the cleanliness, comfort, and great location! Highly recommend!

We would have liked a few more cooking spatulas and ladles, and sharper knives. Also maybe that the safe wasn't working on the first day, but that's really stretching it. It was fine because Dani got it fixed the next day.

The apartments are in an excellent location and were clean and fully equipped — no complaints there at all.

The management changed our booking without any prior notice. One of our two studios was replaced with a one-bedroom apartment, affecting two families travelling together. We only discovered this on arrival. While the apartment itself was fine, the lack of communication created an awkward and uncomfortable situation between friends who had booked identical accommodation. When I raised this politely, the manager's response was dismissive and condescending. He had previously written to us saying he preferred to hear about any concerns early so he could resolve them — yet when I did exactly that, I was met with a defensive, unpolite and unhelpful tone rather than the courtesy that was promised. Great property let down by poor communication and unprofessional customer handling.
