Perfect location for exploring old town, walking distance to everything but tucked away in a quiet courtyard.
Very good value for money considering location
Kitchen equipment and fridge was very useful
Bathroom wasn’t super clean and the shower sprayed water everywhere soaking the whole bathroom. Very thin walls so could hear other guests moving around, talking etc.
Pillow was very flat and worn out
Would not recommend if you have any kind of mobility issues, stairs up to the bed were a bit lethal and had to duck through the beams to open and close the window

Location is the jewel here: Villa Hortensia sits squarely within the centre of the Latin Quarter/Old Town in the remarkably beautiful Tallinn. Set within a courtyard of arts and crafts shops - the wood goods store was my favourite - the accommodation is fine. A somewhat offish host when I met him, Jaan’s place has character but is also basic in terms of the bedroom/bedding/fittings. However, it is reasonably priced and once you step out, you have the cobbled streets and gorgeous sights of Tallinn.
Grumpy host. The bedding/mattress very basic and uncomfortable. No dimming lamps.

This upfront: the guesthouse is perfectly located. You just step out of the door and are right in the center of the old town. Everything was clean and overall, it is probably good value for money.
The pictures are highly misleading. The rooms are much smaller than they appear and there is very limited daylight. Also, the communication with the owner proved to be rather complicated. It seems you have to anticipate his preferred style of communication (emails, paper, phone calls) and adjust to them instead of using 2026 standards.
