WOT New Lisbon Social

This is a large hostel, with shared bathrooms, which are kept really clean, as is the kitchen and the rest of the hostel. The room with a view had a really good view and a comfy bed. Facilities basic - a bed, and a rack for your bags and some hooks. Bedside lights. Bathrooms ok, some more spacious than others, but good showers with plenty of hot water. Kitchen well equipped for cooking. Small outdoor terrace. Good internet on top floor.

No hot water in basins, only in showers. Staff said that kitchen couldn't be used before 11am. This is not stated on the website. They actually let me use it as long as I didn't cook in the mornings - they are using the facilities for the paid breakfast. Nowhere to store food in the kitchen, and the fridge space was insufficient until they let us use another (staff) fridge as well. Terrace locked at 10pm. Staff friendliness and efficiency variable. Nowhere to sit other than dining room or rather underground ground floor/entrance hall.

Location and price

asked the young dark-haired man with a beard at the reception where I could leave my valuables, since I had never stayed in hostels before and didn’t know how things work here. He said I needed to have a lock for the drawer. I said, “Then let me buy one,” but he replied, “We don’t have any.” He was also generally passive-aggressive toward me. Maybe he doesn’t like his job. It was a very unpleasant situation именно because of this guy.

Fun young vibe in nice district. Ball put was gimmick the kids liked. Room clean and bright. Had own bathroom. Staff helpful. Luggage storage.

We were under the kitchen so really noisy even during the quiet zone. Kitchen hours didn’t work for us. Filming going on which was also a bit intrusive. Ok for family but probably better for older teens.

Good location

We stayed in the 2 bd apartment #21 and none of us could sleep a wink. People walking around making noise all day all night. Fortunately it was only for one night before leaving Lisboa. But I would not recommend staying here for any length of time to enjoy the city.
