Quinta da Travessa - Douro

Great location (but the roads to get there are not that wide - not a problem but thought I'd mention to make sure people are aware). We had the room with the 'private' terrace and it was really nice sitting outside enjoying the great view from there. Nuno does an excellent job as a host and the food was really really excellent.

Our bathroom was not as clean as we had expected. It also smelled a bit weird in the bathroom. But nothing a thorough cleaning cannot fix. Also the little fridge in the room was old and a bit noisy (time to replace it :-) )

A beautiful village on the Douro River. The house was also very beautiful and the pool very welcoming after exploring the area. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Try their home produced wine, very palitable!

Access roads to the village can be a bit scary but just take your time.

This quinta was such a great experience! We so enjoyed sitting out by the pool drinking wine and having a picnic dinner on our first night, with bougainvilleas blooming around us and their sweet dog Rocky sitting by our feet. Nuno, the owner, was incredibly warm and friendly. And man, their wine is delicious! Make sure you partake in some of it. I highly recommend dining at the quinta, as the food is delicious. The cook made a local version of chicken curry for us. The location is perfectly situated between Regua and Pinhao, which made it a great strategic spot. I would definitely stay here again!

The rooms are so pretty and spacious. The only issue is that the beds are a little uncomfortable...if they added a mattress topper, that would probably solve the issue. But our sleep was very peaceful!

Dinner meal was good but the dining area was very hot. No air conditioning. Traveling on the narrow barely 1-lane road was quite upsetting for my wife. We booked our stay for 2 nights but only stayed 1 night.

We had a suite but no AC. Very hard to shower with the steam not being removed.
