Casa Greta

The Casa Greta is perfectly located to explore Monopoli. The apartment is about 10-15 minutes walk from the historic centre and seafront. These areas can get quite crowded - especially in the evening - so it provides a retreat from the bustle and noise. There are also two small supermarkets very close to the apartment if guests are self-catering. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and is very spacious with a well-equipped kitchenette. Angela is a kind and helpful host: she was very welcoming when she met us at the apartment to hand over the keys, and answered a number of questions very promptly during our stay. The apartment is also close to Monopoli's railway station (about 3-4 minutes walk). For those without a car, the regional train service is excellent and offers easy access to other towns such as Lecce and Polignano a Mare.

The view from the apartment's balcony isn't attractive, though this isn't the owner's fault! It is also quite close to the railway line. This didn't bother us, but some guests might find the sound of passing trains intrusive.

Excelente ubicación y muy limpio

This place has great potential. The bedrooms are very spacious with high ceilings typical of the region. The balcony was very spacious and comfortable with blazing sunshine during the day and cool shade in the evening. However, it looks out over a building site. But this does mean that you get to look out at space and sky and you are not hemmed in by other buildings. Hopefully, something attractive or park greenery will be developed on this plot. The location is good for a 10 min walk into the old centre of Monopoli and if you are travelling by train the station is about 10 min walk away. Parking for free in the side streets or right outside was actually quite easy. Angela was helpful in her response to our queries. There is a small grocers shop a couple of doors down which is very handy and a very good wine shop further down the road. Also, nearby down the road is a cafe bar and another further along. These are about 100 meters away and quiet cafe/bars and so the place is never disturbed by noisy customers late at night. Of course in Monolopi centre there are loads of amazing places to eat and drink. If you are going to be out and about in Monopoli during the day and evening (which is highly recommended as this is a great place to visit) and you need a place to base yourself near the old centre and nearby beaches, this place is a good option.

The place is quite Spartan. It has great potential and could have a few more touches to make it more cosy and welcoming. A few more items of furniture or decor would help a lot to improve the mood of the place. The kitchen could be better equipped for anyone wishing to cook, but for our purposes of a light meal it was functional. While the building site is not so attractive, perhaps a trellis with trailing plants across the top of the balcony balustrade would provide some shade during the day and obstruct the building site from view. No actual building works were going on so this was a quiet place.
