Y Pengwern was cozy and comfortable and just what we needed on our trip on the Snowdonia Slate Trail. The twin room was spacious and all facilities were as expected. Food in the pub was really tasty and staff were very nice and helpful!

No major complaints! Newer/more supportive mattresses on the twin beds would be much appreciated, but otherwise everything was very good.

Great value, warm welcome and friendly staff.

I don’t want to disrespect the property because the history around how and why it’s open is amazing. My biggest gripe was the shower, it was either scalding hot or freezing cold. No inbetween. I tried to set temperature in the middle and left it for several minutes and was still scalding hot. Had to go in the communal bathroom and have a cold shower. I would warn guest that it’s a pub open until Midnight on weekends. The whole bar like a sing song until then so be prepared for a late night or take ear plugs lol. Rooms are tired looking bed well I have slept in worse, continental breakfast is toast or cereal, and some pots of yoghurt, you can purchase a cooked breakfast for £10pp. Nearest shops a few miles away. It was clean and tidy that’s the main thing and the Hotel is run by the community. 👍
