Moon Light Guest House

My stay at Moon Light Guest House was truly unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, the host, Sanjeewa was incredibly kind, caring, and welcoming. He went above and beyond to ensure I had the best possible experience, and his genuine hospitality is what makes this place so special. I have never experienced such warmth, generosity, and genuine care from a host. The guest house is set amongst peaceful rice fields, creating a beautiful and tranquil atmosphere. It was the perfect place to relax while visiting Yala National Park. Sanjeewa organised my safari and all of my ongoing transport in Sri Lanka, making everything effortless. He even took the time to show me some sights around Tissamaharama, which made my stay even more memorable. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and I always felt genuinely looked after. The food was absolutely exceptional—fresh, delicious, and clearly prepared with love and care. The best food I have had in Sri Lanka. This guest house offers incredible value for money and far exceeded anything I expected. It was one of the highlights of my trip to Sri Lanka, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. If you’re visiting Yala National Park, this is the perfect place to stay. Thank you for making my stay so special.

We loved our stay at Moonlight Guest House. We were made to feel incredibly welcome even before we arrived with help to arrange a car from Negombo to the property. Sanjeewa and his family are lovely and just wanted everything to be perfect for us - it was! The food was amazing - both breakfast and dinner - and we would recommend organising your safari to Yala through the property too. Sanjeewa also took us on a mini tour of the town and surrounding area which was amazing. We also arranged all our ongoing travel here which helped enormously and always meant we had someone looking out for us to make our trip just that extra bit special Would highly recommend

The host was amazing! He set up a safari for us with his brother where we saw everything! They also had an amazing lunch for us when we got back from the safari!

Bed was very comfortable. Nice bathroom with hot water.

Owner does his best to make sure needs are met. I was allowed to switch rooms after an insect fiasco. There was certainly effort on his part and you don't always get that. They are a pleasant family and the intention is there. Food is high quality and volume. They salvaged the stay by allowing me to switch rooms and with their kindness at the end, otherwise I would rate it below average. It is passable for the price.

Owner's English is a challenge when negotiating safari tours. There is clearly a set elevator pitch but questions were not adequately answered, they were almost avoided. I felt pressured in all of our dealings. Air conditioning is extremely weak. Woke up absolutely covered in bug bites. They need mosquito nets badly. First bed I had was like sleeping on a flat board. Owner messaged me multiple times over the next several days after I left to arrange to take me to the airport - again the pressure was constantly on.
