Fantastically clean property, beautiful gardens too. Great spot for a stay when visiting Yala national park. They arrange great safari tour too.

very friendly staff. booked the safari directly with the hotel after the booking via WhatsApp. The safari was well done although Yala safaris have a strange mandatory 2 hour lunch break which seemed excessive to me. That's no fault of the hotel though. the room was comfortable with good air conditioning and a comfortable bed. the safari started dark and early, meeting at 4:45 AM. Saw plenty of elephants and even got super lucky and ran into a leopard on the trail and it pooped right in front of us.

cash only. we had two room and one room had a bad cockroach problem in the bathroom. The other room was fine. I killed about 20 baby cockroaches and 1 gigantic one during my 1 night stay. In a tropical location, bugs are to be expected but this was basically an infestation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Moonlight Guest House. What truly makes this place special is the incredible hospitality, warmth, and generosity of the host, Sanjeewa. It’s what stays with you after your stay here. Communication was seamless from the start, and he went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and well looked after throughout our stay. We were especially craving authentic, home cooked Sri Lankan food, and the meals here absolutely did not disappoint - fresh, delicious, and made with care. The property itself is beautifully set among peaceful rice fields, offering a relaxing and scenic atmosphere. The facilities were clean, comfortable, and excellent value for money. We also joined a Yala safari organised by Sanjeewa, with his brother Tilak as our driver. Everything was arranged ahead of our arrival, making the experience completely stress free. Tilak was fantastic; attentive, patient, and clearly very skilled at tracking wildlife. He gave us every possible chance to spot the elusive leopard, which made the safari all the more exciting. If you’re lucky enough to find availability here, don’t hesitate to book your stay and safari. It will genuinely make your holiday in Sri Lanka even more memorable.

Owner does his best to make sure needs are met. I was allowed to switch rooms after an insect fiasco. There was certainly effort on his part and you don't always get that. They are a pleasant family and the intention is there. Food is high quality and volume. They salvaged the stay by allowing me to switch rooms and with their kindness at the end, otherwise I would rate it below average. It is passable for the price.

Owner's English is a challenge when negotiating safari tours. There is clearly a set elevator pitch but questions were not adequately answered, they were almost avoided. I felt pressured in all of our dealings. Air conditioning is extremely weak. Woke up absolutely covered in bug bites. They need mosquito nets badly. First bed I had was like sleeping on a flat board. Owner messaged me multiple times over the next several days after I left to arrange to take me to the airport - again the pressure was constantly on.
