Cozy and comfortable Cape Town stay

I liked the outdoor areas, kitchen and breakfast included everyday! The staff was very nice and helpful for our stay - kept our bags safe when we had to check out, always getting us coffee in the morning and cleaned our room while we were out. The room was also great for 2 people!

Pleasant homely atmosphere, immaculately clean and maintained. I stayed a week and would return if ever I was fortunate

Outstanding staff, particularly Charl and Sandra and also Tess. Always friendly and exceptionally helpful generally but also with with recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. Sandra and Charl went beyond their job description to assist me with my mobile phone so I had a reliable SIM card which enabled me to use Uber to get around the city. I’m a solo woman traveller in my 70’s and I explored the city and ate out at night at nearby restaurants feeling safe and comfortable at all times.

Awesome, quaint and felt like home away from home,even had a nice big table to eat and for us to play cards..

We were referred to this guesthouse by family..so glad we were..this guesthouse is beautiful, quaint, quiet, cozy and close to downtown area.. ❤️that we could see table mountain from the backyard patio area.. Charls the manager of the guesthouse greeted us upon arrival and strongly suggested we visit table mountain that afternoon as the next few days it would be a bit foggy .. happy he did as Charls was right it was foggy next few days..he asked what we would like to see and do.. we asked for his recommendations and when we got back from table mountain he had a list of places to see.. we took his advice and Charls arranged for a driver for us and called to some places in advance for us ..he even had the driver take us to a restaurant for lunch that Charls had got married at…it was so nice and we would have never found it, beautiful view and good food ..when we got back he asked what we would like for dinner ..as we didn’t know he suggested karibou restaurant by the waterfront and again it was such a treat ..we got to walk around the waterfront and it was just outside the mall which was even better for our wives to go shoppng .. We also want to acknowledge Sandra who had a continental breakfast awaiting us when we got up every morning ..she made eggs to our liking, pancakes, had fresh bread every morning with fresh fruit, croissants and even baked banana bread for us..was just delicious and we didn’t expect breakfast when we booked ..(I mentioned that I like peanut butter on my pancakes) next morning Sandra had a jar of peanut butter there for me.. Sandra also made our beds, had clean towels in our rooms after we had our daily outings and 2 bottles of water ..

A hidden gem.

This guesthouse is a hidden oasis in a busy town. I ticked quiet as the street it is in is peaceful, but also lively because at the end of the street is Kloof Street which is lined with busy bars and restaurants. You dont have to go far to experience a lot of different cuisines and Breuic at the guesthouse will recommend some. Sandra produces a lovely breakfast which can be enjoyed inside or outside in the rear courtyard or the lush front garden. There is no AC but the ceiling fan and the way the house is managed means the room stayed much cooler than outside. Quirky decoration and a homely feel which they go to great lengths to promote. Loved it!

Bit noisy when other guests arrive, but its an older building with hard floors so to be expected.

Just pleasant that there were spaces to connect and retreat. Location was great to explore the city and the mountains and hiking.

Sylvie and Tom were truly exceptional hosts. They were friendly, attentive, and went out of their way to ensure that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. They were readily available to answer any questions, provide recommendations, and offer assistance whenever needed. Their genuine care for their guests made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. The rooms were clean and spacious, offering a cozy and relaxing atmosphere. The attention to detail in the room decor was evident, creating an ambiance that was both stylish and comfortable. The excellent shower—hot water, great water pressure were refreshing after a day of exploring the city. The breakfast was a delight. The pancakes were a particular favorite. It was the perfect way to start the day before venturing out to explore Cape Town. Parking was available in the street near the guesthouse, and we had no trouble finding a spot during our stay. The neighborhood felt safe and secure, with its proximity to bars and restaurants adding to the convenience and enjoyment of our visit. We felt comfortable walking around, both during the day and in the evening. One tip we received from Sylvie was to use Uber in Cape Town. This turned out to be a fantastic recommendation, as it made getting around the city hassle-free and convenient. It saved us time and ensured that we could explore the various attractions without worrying about transportation logistics. We highly recommend Number 5 Guesthouse to anyone visiting Cape Town and looking for a wonderful place to stay.

We spent our first days in South Africa at Number5 Guesthouse and we really enjoyed our stay - so we came back for the last few days at the end of our trip. First of all Sylvie and the rest of the team do a really good job. Thanks again for having us! Our Room was very clean and comfy, breakfast was tasty, central location and quiet area at the same time.

An ideally located, cosy and welcoming guest house with an excellent breakfast.

The breakfast is amazing! freshly made fruit salads with berries and kiwi fruit and mango, as well as espresso coffee, pancakes, eggs if you like, and yoghurt. The staff are friendly and helpful and the location is excellent - right below Table Mountain and close to great restaurants, bars and cafes.

The only thing is the creaky floor in my room, which doesn’t help if you’re wanting discreet intercourse (only kidding), but seriously it’s all part of the character of the building.

Warm welcome and cosy setup.

Sylvie, the manager was extremely friendly and speaks French so we had a really nice chat. She prepared a special breakfast for me as there were no other guests that morning. My son joined me in the morning and she very kindly offered him a coffee and we carried on with our chat.

Next time I will ask for a room on the other side. I forgot how windy Cape Town can be and it was blowing straight into my window. Take earplugs just in case!

The location is great and is walking distance to quite a few restaurants and a grocery store. The rooms are a little small but cozy and clean. The host offered an extended check-out which was greatly appreciated.

The breakfast was a bit inconsistent, we were there for three days. Day one was below expectations, day two was exceptional and day three was good. I assume the owner was dealing with staffing issues or was cost cutting as it was probably us and another room that was occupied on day one.

Lovely owner and team, very central yet quiet

It was our second stay and we will come back! Nice atmosphere, delicious breakfast (fresh croissants, fresh fruit salad, cheese, cold meat etc.). The rooms are a little small but cosy and clean. The owner and her team are very helpful and make you feel as though you were staying with friends.

Marie was fantastic. Great checking in process and in touch via Whatsapp to help. They had great bar/restaurant advice, in particular in the local area which is really cool with funky coffee bars / tapas places with local young professionals. Very cool area.
