Nice location and charming buildings with atmosphere. Loved the terrace outside the guesthouse and the garden and pool in the lodge. Good beds and AC. Brand new kitchen and nice breakfast.
The shower and windows of the building could need some renovation.

I loved the closeness of the property to Kloof & Long street where all the fun happens in Cape Town. Also, the property exceeded my expectations in terms of security and cleanliness.
The fact that you can’t smoke inside the room.

our house was afamily house with three beds, all comfy. Toilet and bathroom clean as well as the room and linens. Location is great very quite and peaceful. staff are friendly
charging indoor parking fees for guests is not cool, and the costs for it is extremely expensive. This reason prevent me for staying here if i am travelling with my private car again, breakfast could be improved as well

Nothing really.

The location is fantastic! The guest house was about three blocks from the main Ashanti Lodge. In the guest house we had a spacious room with attached sapcious bath, a mini fridge and hot water pot. The decor was simple but pratical. There was a shared kitched that was modern and well equipted and a lovely front poarch great for morning coffee. There was also a great grocery store just a few blocks away as well as all the great resturaunts of Hof Street.

Really scrumptious breakfast. Well worth it served by a very friendly lady.

Friendly and helpful staff, especially the cleaners I saw daily and the reception staff, cozy and clean, nice location and all the facilities you need. Comfy bed, lots of pillows.
It was a bit cold since it was winter and there was a bit of a draft coming in through the door, so the AC could never really warm it well. A slight touch of cigarette smell in the room or something similar, but nothing too bad.

I like the room and the shower but no thick blanket for winter
It did not like the reception and restaurant are far from the bedrooms even during night is not safe to walk around

The staff were exceptional, seamless check- in and peaceful stay.
Cosy room with access to the kitchen and sufficient supply of coffee ingredients.
Hot showers were great.
Walking distance to checkers, restaurants and ATMs.
I cant fault this place

Only the location
Everything was bad, the staff, especially cleaning staff. The place is dirty, the linen is extremely dirty the pillows are actually rotten and brown inside making the pillows stink!!! The floor is damaged under the carpet and the carpet needs to be replaced, the bed was ok but not comfortable.

Ashanti Gardens Guest house was a hidden gem in Cape Town. Nice old looking house from outside, however inside is all modern with nice kitchen area, room had nice towels, recessed lighting and kettle. The amenities were more like hotel room than a guest house. The hallway and the rooms had nicely framed pictures and paintings that reflected the character of the house. I've extended the stay for two more days with the help of the nice owner. Thank you very much, little did I know your guest house is an institution in Cape Town.
Just a suggestion, a shelf in the bathroom for the toiletry bag or a mirror in the room.

This place is excellent value for money right in the heart of Cape Town. Basic room but you have a little outdoor area, access to a shared kitchen as well as to the guesthouse down the road which has a pool. Given the cost, don't expect luxury, but it has everything you need and very lovely staff. I would not necessarily book it if you're planning on spending all your time in the property, but rather if you're looking for a base to explore the city.

Great location within walking distance of a good choice of restaurants and shops.
Good self catering facilities
A shelf in the bathroom would be helpful

First time I was at Ashanti was in 2007 and now I came back with my parents and family (including my todler.) We stayed at the Guesthouses which are not in the main building (where we had to go to have breakfast and get general info). For elder people that was not the easiest move but still, they managed it and loved the breakfast! Rooms were good and the staff was amazing, as always!
They are closing the Backpackers and I got really sad about this news! They are going to keep the guesthouse though. We all know SA has some insects and we found some in our rooms. We informed the reception and well it can happen anywhere with summer heat!

Location fabulous. Revisited this place for 23 years. Sad to discover the main hostel has been now sold by the owner and surprised she didn’t mention this as a point of interest when we checked in and spoke to her.
Our particular bedroom in the guesthouse wasn’t the best compared to previous stays. it had a windows over looking a high wall and no wardrobe or decent storage place for clothes. shower low pressure

The view and the breakfast
There was neither shampoo nor any soap in the room, but I got it after a call at the reception

The location was brilliant
The communal kitchen was not what i expected from a lodge. This is more of a backpackers profile

I enjoyed every bit of my stay at Ashanti GH, with friendly and responsive staff. The reception should appear more prominently on the search and to give guidance to the connected properties.
The direction that the reception is 'around the corner' was not that clear to a new visitor.
