Watei Kazekomichi

It’s a gorgeous property with a beautiful view. We loved the traditional styled rooms and the private onsens. It was quiet and relaxing after a long, busy travel schedule. The staff was incredibly kind and accommodating and our meal was a great display of Japanese cuisine to end our trip. It was nice they provided the shuttle service since the location is tucked up the hill.

Our room, Aoi, was in the basement/first level of the property and we noticed some sour/moldy smells in our room. I hate to mention it because we still loved our stay, but it was noticeable to my sensitive nose. I can imagine it would be hard to combat in a beachy climate with that many spa spaces. They did have good airflow and a dehumidifier.

One of the most beautiful places to stay. The rooms are stunning with our own private outdoor bath. Comfortable and spacious. The staff were incredibly friendly. The property itself is beautiful. Complimentary drinks and treats upon arrival and in the room, refreshed daily. The shuttle bus makes this slightly out of the way stay super easy.

Although these things did not stop us from enjoying our stay. The lighting in the room is quite dim which creates a lovely and peaceful atmosphere but could make it hard for anyone visual impaired. There is no elevator so we have to go up and down several flights of stairs to get to and from our room. Again, not a problem for us (and the staff were apologetic), but could be for others (our room was on the bottom so had the most flights). The shuttle bus doesn't operate later than 5:30pm I believe but getting a taxi if needed is easy and inexpensive.

I really appreciated the friendliness and hospitality of the staff despite my lack of speaking Japanese and being a solo traveler. The breakfast and the kaiseki dinner were a treat. My room was also well designed with the bedroom chairs facing the balcony outdoor view and conducive to spending a day relaxing at the inn. I liked the easy access to the private onsen which allowed for frequent usage. Also, the thoughtful touches like the flower bouquet in the stairway, the cooling snack in the fridge and the mosquito coil for the outdoor onsen. Also, since there were only 8 rooms, overall the stay was very peaceful and calm. I would rank it as 9.5 but that doesn't seem to be an option.

It's not a complaint- just to be aware that you might want to plan ahead how you would like to spend your time there so you can make travel arrangements with the ryokan staff.

Great location away from crowds. Thankful for shuttle service. Food was excellent. Furnishings and decor transported us to old Japan. Staff was excellent.
