Where to start..? Overall I really enjoyed my stay. I felt very comfortable and safe. I stayed 4 nights and i had everything i needed: cold shower (there is hot water but who needs that in Palermo summer?), comfy bed with privacy curtain, locker, individual fan, kitchen with fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle and basic utensils. They supply sheets, towels, washing up liquid, hand soap and even shampoo. I found the bathrooms, toilets and sheets to be very clean! Be aware there is no aircon but in June it was fine. The dorms are great but I heard the private rooms are particularly "cosy"! I was accidentally late to checkout (by 30 minutes) but they kindly just put my luggage in storage. There are only 2 of them (mother and son) and they work really hard..

..the downside? The mother! She is often in a bad mood and frequently shouts at guests. To be fair, i don't know the full story and don't speak Italian but what i did understand was "I don't speak English or Spanish, we are in Italy, here we speak Italian" and various insults aimed at what she perceived to be rude guests. The son is abrupt, in classic Sicilian style, but he is kind, helpful, and works very hard. So maybe I would recommend everyone to come and stay so they can make enough money to hire someone else! 😂

Was walking clise to main attractions, the old city has a amazing architecture,.

Cheap, in the center, quiet for its position, beds are fine

Host seems very unhappy about his job, staff having loud conversations, very thin walls, doors and windows do not keep any noise outside. Nightlights are neon blue for some reason (the most anti sleep colored light lol). Kitchen has a microwave, but no surfaces and is quite useless, also not very clean. Two bathrooms for all people, shower and toilet are together so they are occupied for long. Also in the hallway/kitchen and not very private. Lockers under the beds, very loud to get out/unlock.
