Nice clean room with plenty of tea and coffee available. There is a gym available but given we were just there for a one night stay we did not have the time to try it out. Lady at reception was very pleasant. House and setting are stunning. Reasonable rate compared to the competition.

There is a bar but it was closed. No food on site although you can order in. The house is lovely but not very warm - keeping a place like this warm is probably expensive. Once under our duvets we were fine.

The building is stunning, built in 1831 this grand 2 listed building from the outside looks amazing, I wish it had been kept as one big amazing building but it was split in two which is how you have the hotel and the private house attached. As you go through the building you see the history in some of the rooms and gosh looks fantastic, the rest of the hotel leaves a bit to be desired carpet that doesn't fit the walls it's a shame really. The beds are ok but should have a mattress protector fitted.

The cleaning leaves a lot to be desired, I did not want to use the shower as it was thick with gunk and mold in the grout, round the wash basin was dirty and dusty and the floor didn't look like it had seen a mop in a while. The kettle still had water in it and lots of black bits as if someone had tried to make a cup of tea in the kettle so I had to clean that out. We could not use the glasses as you could see they had not been cleaned and you could still see lip marks and finger prints on them. The breakfast was a continental option but we could not have that as there was no provision for celiacs which I had told them while booking but nothing was said. There is very little to no lighting round the building which while not a deal breaker could be better. I know this is a 2 star place but cleaning should be at the top of the list. You can see that some efforts have been made like some painting has been done but not finished and when I say not finished I mean half a door frame stopped half way through. Fit mattress protectors and some firm pillows please

Bathroom not clean & Shower head not working properly

Lovely period property. Large rooms and pleasant staff.

Pool is no longer open. Booked a double or twin room (wasn't specified when booking) and travelled with daughter so assumed they would put us in twin room. Daughter didn't want to share the small double bed so I ended up sleeping on the floor. Staff offered to try to contact manager to find a mattress but they never did reappear with one and they apologised in the morning as they couldn't get hold of management. Only continental breakfast available, no cooked option.
