Coral Sea Holiday Resort & Aqua Park

Really great location, great facilities, good food and accommodation was lovely. The whole place was well laid out. Plenty of sun loungers. Entertainment was great at night for kids and good facilities for kids.

The pools definitely need a revamp. They have had a plastic overlay on them which looks really tatty and made it slippy on the swim up pools. The access to the pools - the steps - were too short and the steps too deep between them for older people to manage. There were people with disabilities who struggled to get in and out - this really needs attention. The allocation of pool towels was stingy. Towels only given in room when the ones you had used were returned so you had to call someone for this. There should be a better system for changing towels.

The hotel staff was very nice and the location was good. The resort itself was serene and peaceful and the sister resort on the other side of the road, had a decent water park. The food was ok in the main restaurant as well as the Bamboo a la carte restaurant near us.

We booked a room with a jacuzzi but it seems there was no warm water coming out of the tap of the jacuzzi when we wanted to use it. In the winter months, it is not warm enough at night for a cold/luke water jacuzzi. II I would have known this beforehand (I do not exclude the possibility of having misread something),I would not have booked that particular room type. The evening entertainment was very basic. I personally did not mind. There was life singing, which was ok. The entertainment team on the other hand did the best they could. When I arrived at the hotel there was some problem with checking in because my partner arrived earlier than me.the booking was made on both of our names. The hotel was made aware of the fact that my travel partner would arrive earlier. They messaged me that this was fine and that the room could be given to her. However when my partner arrived, they refused to let her in without my permission (although they already had it and the booking was also already on her name) Eventually, after tedious communication back and forth,, they let her in. Mistakes happen, but this mistake could have been handled more professionally by the staff because they kept on ignoring the previous communication about it and kept requesting information from me they already had until even information that was already given to them five minutes before. In other words; they kept on making the same mistake over and over again. .

We visited this hotel last year - 2024 - and had nothing but good things to say. So much so, we extended our trip an extra week while at the property. Unfortunately, in 2025, things have taken a sharp downturn. I’m not sure if it’s just because it’s a ‘Holiday Village’ during our stay, when previously it wasn’t, or it’s something else. What we liked: - Swim-up room is super convenient - Grounds/nature in the hotel complex is beautiful and well kept What we didn’t like: - Variety and quality of food were really bad - including a bout of acute gastroenteritis for one of us. Really bland and repetitive menu, suited to maybe a teenager’s palate. Very limited options for vegetarians and especially vegans. Unless you love soya kofta. - Animation/entertainment is VERY kid-focused. The previous year included interesting performers like singers, saxophonists, guitarists, etc. This year, just violin playing the same 5 songs every night for 30 mins. Other than that, if you’re a couple without a kid, you’ll be bored out of your mind come evening time. - Cleaning staff were kinda pushy about giving tips, even when we had literally just arrived. The tips also don’t give you anything more than standard room cleaning - if you’re expecting those cool towel designs or flowers, you’ll be dissatisfied. - Nor applicable for all - but we had a free airport transfer by Booking, and the driver was doing 160kph into roundabouts. All the taxi’s in SSH are a gamble, but this one in particular was straight up scary. Dude even hit a curb at 90kph while he was busy texting and driving with one hand and looking at his phone. If you value your life, maybe walk :D - A different point is about the clinic. If you do get sick, try and get to a local clinic if you can and avoid the one in the complex. The staff are amazing there, my thanks to Ahmed and Mustafa, but the cost is insane comparatively.
