We stayed in Casa do Forno; it's about 10 meters from the tavern where you're given the keys. The house was so unusual compared to "standard" city apartments that we liked every meter of it. It's a perfect stay if you want to rest and relax for a couple of days.

1. Just to warn people who like hiking: the recent storm in February 2026 made a mess of some hiking trails near the village (although not all of them). So I guess you'd better ask in the tavern where you can go and where you shouldn't. We didn't ask and ended up making 5 extra kilometers to get around obstacles. 2. If you visit the town on Easter, be ready that all the restaurants are closed on that particular day. We knew that and were okay with it, but we met some people who weren't prepared for the situation. 3. If you choose Casa do Forno and plan to use all of its beds (there are three: two for two people and one for one person), keep in mind that two of them (2+1) are upstairs and are a bit warm, while the third one (2), which is downstairs, is a bit cold and damp like a basement. Depending on the season, some of your family members may be lucky… or not. We didn't have anyone to sleep in a lower bed - so for us, everything was perfect.

- Idyllic mountain village - unique view from the accomadation - true feeling of living in a mountin village --> you do not have any WiFi or modern heating system - the accomodation is an original slate house - the village is lovely and worth a visit - very cute: you will find a regional honey and a shot of liquor prepared for you => all in all it was a nice and unique experience

Check-in was quite a chaos - our estimated arrival between 5 and 6 p.m. was confirmed by the host. When we arrived at 5:30 p.m. there was no one there. The host was somewhere on the road, not answering the phone. After asking around a villager checked us in (the key was in a key box, so it would have been easy to provide us information via E-Mail). The accomodation does not have WiFi. The only possibility for heating up is a wood stove - which could be cold for winter nights, be aware of that! You will have an authentic feeling of living in a mountain village. You should prepare some Portuguese speaking skills for no one speaks English there.
